Default Correlation between carbs and feet swelling

I have been experimenting a little bit with different foods and how they affect me...so last week, I added higher starch foods that were lower in fat and watched my calorie intake...and for some reason, my shoes seemed really tight on my feet...my boots literally started cutting into my little toes and cutting them...well, on Thursday, I stopped eating all that higher starch / lower fat junk...and by Saturday, my boots weren't cutting into my little toes anymore...I didn't really think about it until last night but realized that perhaps, it was all that starch that was causing my feet to swell. Is this a possiblity?

By the way, that experiment wasn't worth it, either! I found myself up 2 lbs and when I stopped eating all that starch, I went into sugar withdrawal symptoms...I am thankful I didn't give in to my ravenous cravings and now I've got my cravings under control...L-Glutamine sure helps in this area as well...

And I'm very grateful my feet aren't swelling anymore!

My feet swell anyway, but when I have high sugar, low fat treats I notice that it swells worse. I don't know why except maybe the higher carb content causes some water retention. I do notice it too, but don't know why.

Your body will store water along with glucose when you make glycogen. I don't recall the exact ratio, but I think it was something like three molecules of water for each molecule of glucose.

That is why weight can come both on and off pretty quickly after a cheat.

I have a sensitivity to sulfites which are used in most processed foods (and yes in wine). In fact, the emphasis on whole foods rather than processed foods is one reason that I chose Atkins. When I have a sulfite reaction, one of the symptoms is that my feet swell.
