Hi all,

My husband and I just completed our 8th week. He has lost 22 pounds. I am not a fan of the scale, but have been measuring, but have gotten quite discouraged. Over the past four weeks, no change from the tape measure ANYWHERE! I am 5' 8", 200lb+. Daily menu is usually turkey breast with swiss and broccoli or celery with cream cheese (once a week I have a cheese omelette), lunch is a mixed green salad with Marie's dressing or homemade, and dinner is fish or meat with another vegetable (asparagus, cauliflower, eggplant or brussels sprouts). Some days I'll snack on 1ounce of nuts, either unsalted almonds or macadamia nuts. I am fanatical about my water, drinking at least 1 gallon a day, usually closer to 150oz. I don't drink anything else, except a glass of white wine on the weekend.

I've read with interest a lot of emails about people stalling with too few carbs. I do exercise a lot, usually a 5-6 mile walk a day, or a 2 mile run.

Any thoughts would be most helpful!

Hi chefpilsy,
Welcome to LCE First off, let me say...everyone is different with their rate of weight loss...I'm sure you know that already. You didn't say how many carbs you are at, but it sounds like you may need to add some more food, ie. veggies, and add some more fat into your menu. Have that large salad at lunch and dinner, with full fat dressing. Continue with your veggies at dinner also. You might also try adding in some berries with real whipped heavy cream sweetened with splenda. If you are a frequent and heavy exerciser, you can stand a few more carbs so your body doesn't think you are putting it into *starvation* mode. Otherwise you menu looks good. Keep on doing what you are doing, and try not to get discouraged. There are a few more things that can factor in also...your age, hormone replacement, any other meds you are on, to name a few.
I think you are on the right tract, some of us are just a little slower with the weight loss, myself included. Look on the bright side...how much better you feel and how much healthier you are eating!
Post often and let us know how you are doing.
HTH

It sounds like you may need to increase the carbs to keep your body from thinking you are starving it somehow! Add more to your salads and have full fat dressings with them, have veggies for snack--1Cup at a time. Add berries and real whipped cream, Strawberries or blueberries are wonderful with whipped cream. Add some cheese to add to your fat intake if you need to add some more, top your salad with shredded cheese, there are a lot of ways to increase. How many carbs are youeating a day? It looks to me like about 20 still--you should be around 50 by now! Keep up the good work and welcome. You never did say how many inches you have lost so far either!
