I just had a bowl of it for breakfest. I almost like it better than the Atkins brand not as hard to chew...
I like it

I have it....ate it once. Definitely not as "bulky" as Atkins and I like the cinnamon taste to it.

I am NOT a big cereal fan, but this sounds like something I may want to try! I didn't mind the Blueberry Bounty, but it was "chewy" for cereal!

I love cereal, but fiber one is my all time favorite. I eat atkins almond crunch, blueberry crunch, and banana crunch usually, altho they are a little starchy tasting. I do love fiber one tho. And when I DO have it, I have a little, and put cream on it. Its special that way.

You can view the nutritional info on the Special K Low Carb Cereal here.

If you'll notice, there's sugar and high fructose corn syrup listed in the ingredients, along with wheat, rice, and soybeans.

At the bottom of that screen, you can click the link for the nutritional information.

AT least it isn't claiming to be sugar freecarb free and then listing HFCS and the like. I have purchased a couple of things in that category without reading the label carefully. It looks (nutritionally) like something I might like, but am not big on the cereal thing anyway, I prefer my cottage cheese or chicken salad in the morning--seems to last longer than most cereals and I don't get a snack in the morning! I have to go from 6:30 to 11:10--I teach and can't just stop for a "snack" break when kids are in the gym with me!!!

The only reason I didn't buy this was because of the sugar and corn syrup. I can't see why it needs to be in there and I don't want it in my body. Some of these companies that are making LC food for us obviously do not know the principles of Atkins. We all need to be careful and read labels meticulously when new processed LC foods come out, otherwise we'll be fooled into a LC mentality about any product with this claim.

Have tried Atkins cereals, and found them very difficult to eat.
Special K is much easier to chew and digest as is Total low-carb
cereal, called Total Protein. It consists of "lightly sweetened toasted wheat flakes, contains 13 grams of protein, 8 grams of net carbs, and, like the original Total cereal, contains 100% of the Daily Value of 11 vitamins and minerals" --- description taken from the website:

Not sure if I did the hyperlink correctly since it's the first time
I've used it...

The other thing is that I have not seen either of these two cereals anywhere to buy them. Iwould likely try them anyway, just to be able to say I have and if I liked them, may add that tomy diet now and then instead of cottage cheese or chicken salad for breakfast--ahve to have something that sticks to me for a while since I can't snack in the morning!

Lori,
In answer to your question, I've found both cereals at Wal-Mart.

I've tried the Special K and the Total Protein. The Special K has a very strong cinnamon taste to it. I like the Total better. I only eat it every other week with Soy Slender Sugar Free Soymilk.

You can find more info about it at Total Protein. It does have maltitol and honey although they are pretty far down the list. IMO this is a slight improvement over the HFCS found in Special K.

In any event, I am sticking to maggie's cereal.
