Question Re: Vitamins, Oils etc

helene... i will have to check the bottle... its at home and i am at work,,, my husband asked the pharmasist what would help my bad knee.. (before we knew it was torn) and he recommended the stuff... heck.. its what they gave GEORGE DUBYA for his bad knees... and i figured.. whats good enough for the PREZ is good 'nuff for me..*L*
honestly though.. it took a month or so.. but then i REALLY could tell.. my hip joints were so bad when i extended my legs out to the sides (think jumpingjack move) that i couldnt stand the popping and pain... now it doesnt do that at ALL.. no kiddin... its wild.. i wouldnt have believed it myself.. but its no overnite cure.. six weeks i would give it.. EVERY DAY.. taken EVERY DAY...
*disclaimer: i am only giving my personal opinion .. not to be misconstrued as advice... see your doctor if you are in pain..*
(Andrea.. clean this up if i overstepped the boundes eh? thanks!*

I actually got Atkins Vita Nutrient book. I have problems with tendonitis in my achilles and was taking NSAIDS (Vioxx) for it. I read it can stall weight loss, as well as being dangerous. I now take supplements and they help more than the medication did!! I take:

Atkins Essential Oils (4 a day)
C (2k mgs)
B complex (100 mgs)
Atkins Basic 3
Glucosamine/Condroitin (1500/1200 mgs)
B6 (100 mgs)

Ok It may seem like a lot, but one time I cut down on my oils, and my eyes were so dry and scratchy!! Amazing what some supps can do....

i was wondering this the other day...basically i approach it the same way i approach other stuff, i.e. randomly select suppliments that i've heard people say they like or whatever jumps out at me in the store. lol...so i end up mixing them up a lot. basically if i've seen somebody endorse it or i remember seeing it in DANDR, i'm game.

a few i stick to:

-multivitamin, just got the new centrum carb assist. i felt like such a sheep buying it, but i did check the ingredients and it had lots of stuff that people take seperately.

- some kind of "fatburner" herbal stuff. whatever is on sale, looks good, blah blah. i mix these up regularly, too, which i think keeps my body from acclimating completely too them and helps keep 'em more effective. sort of like switching shampoos ever three months. lol

-i also take b-complex, for it's role in the processing of fat and help with stress.

-and carb blockers often before meals or higher carb foods (like when i'm going to have a cappachino).

- sometimes i take st. john's wart when i'm feeling moody. and i have a 'script for wellbutrin, which helps even out the ol' mood, too, and has helped a lot with the weight loss.

-whatever else i'd bought recently. :jump:

Hi Goddess

multivitamin, i dont agree taking that cause there are vitamins in it that people dont really need...people should take only what they need if they know what they need or if they really need it...(if that made sense..ha!)

i didnt know b-complex has a role in the processing of fat...what does it do exactly with fat? ive been taking it for 3yrs....you see 3yrs ago i woke up with Bell Palsy...someone up there decided that i wake up with half a face...well of course i freaked out and all...i decided to read and read and read on the web and read that someone in liverpool in UK was taking B-Complex and she came back to normal...hey...what do i have to lose right? so i did too...i even double the dose to 100 and you know what....took 3weeks ONLY...either its by fluke or just plain luck...my face came back to what it was...b-complex helps to reactivate your nervous system that is behind along the ears....to this day i still take them because i notice when i get tire cause i work on a computer all day long, days parts of my face feels like numb and tingling...i got so scared that i dont ever want to get that again...maybe b-complex never did anything but i sure do see the difference when i dont take them...for fat, i dont see what it can do...i still have that 15lbs i want to get rid of...for stress, well yes it probably does have its point there...

john warts....last time i tried that i was like on a high...felt stone...lol...felt dizzy...for mood swings...hmmmm maybe i should give them to my husband....each time its TOM time...its my husband that pms's for me...amazing...affects more him than me...LOLOLOL....
