i love this thread! i wore a backless black halter top last weekend around some friends that hadn't seen me in a while ... and you would have thought i was a princess or something! i KNEW it looked good, and everyone said so.
can i tell you ... i NEVER would have shown my back OR my arms before this WOE. now my arms are toned from so much exercise and i love the way my back looks from yoga practice.
i am wearing so many more slim fitting shirts, sleeveless to show off my muscles!
yah!feel HOT!

This is such an interesting thread...I have done some thinking about this, but still don't know the answer for me. I do know that I have always bought tent-like clothes to cover me all up! If something touched my "rolls" it was too tight! My lower arms and legs have always looked OK, but I had to keep my middle covered in something loose. I based my wardrobe on what I could find that would fit and let me feel vaguely OK about my appearance.
In the past month or so, since I passed the 25 lb mark, I've been faced with getting rid of some clothes because they are actually just TOO BIG. Which is a wonderful problem to have. Instead of a 26-28, I am going to be looking at 22's. Which is still several sizes away from where I want to be, but a big improvement. When my Dear Partner asked me what kind of clothes I would get next, I had to pause, and then i said, um, probably another pair pf khakis and another pair of black pants. Partly because these items will allow me to get through the next 20 lbs or so with the tops I have, but mostly because I just dont know what else I would like to wear so I am leaning toward the old familiar stuff.
Think I might go thorugh some magazines or catalogs and see what styles appeal to me and experiment a little. I think I thought I would be fat forever so this would just never matter. But I won't, and it does. That's a good thing!
Thanks for the thread!

...and another thing:
I'm a jeans lover, but I really don't like the new hip-hugger, flare-bottom jeans that are all the rage right now. And not because of weight, but because they seem to be geared toward teen girls who haven't even developed a woman's body yet!I mean, can you imagine me (even fit and trim) with my a** and hips in those jeans?? I mean, c'mon....

What an interesting topic!!!!!!!!
I know exactly how I'd dress. I'd wear skirts frequently - the really pretty ones that are cut at funky angles and made out of that wonderful flowy material - and maybe show a little leg. I'd wear tighter fitting tops and things that were more patterned. I'd wear belts that showed and flashier jewelery. I wouldn't be afraid to show my arms. I'd wear outfits! Pants of different styles and textures and materials with soft sweaters that matched and were stylish.
I sometimes try to make myself dress like this. I sometimes try to wear really cute skirts and tops and do the whole outfit thing. That is my style, I shouldn't be afraid to wear that type of stuff. But I so desperately want the girl in the mirror to be a size 6 that dressing the way I really want to only makes me sad. And so I don't.
hey folks. i just saw you were talking about me, kinda...lol...
i do think it was very true for me that my choices of clothes were about what fit, not what i liked. i went shopping on mother's day (self-service holidays around here!), and i picked out a couple of outfits that i like...it was kind of weird, but i liked the feeling. i felt drawn to brighter colors in general, and got a nice little peach outfit i like a lot...it was fun to consider styles, not sizes!
*L* aw cherub....*L* if you dont like the low rise flare jeans thats okay... but ME? I LOVE em... i have a flat butt..(not to be confused with a SMALL butt..*L*) and i have a thicker type of waist,... so if when i buy REGULAR jeans i always had to get a bigger size for the waist.. then they were hanging off my hips and legs... but the low rise fit lower on me and now i can get the size i need.. they fit SOOOOOOOOOO much better on my hips and legs... now i DO understand how people that have a nice rear might have a problem wearing them... but as for MY pancake butt..it just fits the bill..
how ya doin with that book btw?
goddess..*grin*.. just kinda directing the gang to your terrific journal.. ..
