| I know it sounds odd but I just can't bring myself to eat any of it anymore. I have tried -even the lc bread - with butter on it and all it does is send me into these ravenous cravings of wanting more and more...I'm almost thinking it's just better to do away with bread altogether! So what could I put in its place so my carb count isn't too low? I'm currently at 60 g of carbs per day so anyone have any suggestions of replacing two slices of bread that would equal 20 carbs...I was considering oatmeal since it is nutrient dense, fulfilling and doesn't send me into those ravenous cravings of wanting more and more. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Sheyla |

| What about whole grain bread, Sheyla. I've just switched from the lc to the whole grain, and so far i am fine with it. Also when you do eat your bread, you should eat it last, after youve had your meat and veggies, this helps to minimize the effects of any insulin spikes. Ive read that carbs on an empty stomach, will have a fast effect on your blood sugar level. I hope this helps. good luck and happy low carbing.

| 'The Baker' line of LC breads are delicious and satisfying, and I never found myself having cravings after eating them (the Flax LC for 4 carbs per slice is delicious!) I really like that they don't have the same chewy, gummy texture that a lot of LC breads do. Aside from that, I find that I've been enjoying Soy Flax Tortilla Chips from Trader Joe. I really enjoy the crunch, and topped with some melted Jack cheese and salsa, it's really a filling dinner. There are so many ways to enjoy them.

| Sheyla - Do low carb tortillas have the same effect? If not have those sometimes. Fruit as dessert. Half a medium apple has about 10 carb. Or fruit as a snack but have some cheese or other protein/fat with it. A few more veggies at meals might make up some or all of the difference. If bread is giving you problems then it's a good idea to stay away from it until you can handle it. |

| I certainly understand how you can become afraid of bread. I certainly have foods that I am afraid would cause me to loose control (doritos, anyone). I just avoid them to simplify my life. I agree with Rob, in that if bread doesn't work for you, maybe you should use lc tortias as a permenant substitute for them. I think oatmeal is a great choice as well. Nutrient dense, as well as low glycemic.

| I've tried some of the LC tortillas...they tasted a little awkward to me but I know that can only be a good thing...it caused me to eat one every other day so maybe I'll do that...and I always have fruit for desset 9usually strawberries)...yeah...I think you're right, too...I'll start adding more vegetables to make up for the carb count...thanks for the suggestions!
