Default Question abpit detoxifying/fasting

I am just curious about this...not with the Fat Flush Plan but for example, the Hollywood Diet plan - where you drink that fruit juice every 4 hours for 2 days straight and drink at least 64 oz of water and no solid food goes in your body...I did that one time last year and dropped 5 lbs doing it but here is my question...that 5 lbs I lost, was that really a 5 lb lost or was it just a false weight loss? Kinda like when you go work out at the gym for 2 hours and you come back a pound thinner - it's false 'cuz all it is is your sweat or when you drink 16 oz of water and then get on the scale and gain a pound - it's false because 16 oz of water equals 1 pound...so if people are doing something like the Hollywood Diet do detoxiify their body, would their weight loss be considered real or false 'cuz wouldn't that weight come right back on if someone weren't careful with what they were eating or how they came off the detoxification?

Sheyla, I can't talk about the Hollywood diet, but have done the "master cleanser fast" in the past - citrus juice - lemon/lime, water, cayanne pepper, and maple syrup. I did it for 10 days, drinking lots of this per day, and nothing else. The book tells you to start back eating by drinking juices, eating veggie soups for a couple of days, then slowly adding whole grains, and lastly protien (this is a diet that will wean you off meat if you want to be a vegatarian.) I broke the diet and started eating fruit (watermellon is especially good for cleaning out the system) and had lost about 15 lbs in the 10 days...of course, I started eating my regular diet not long after and gained most of it back. HOwever, during the detox period was energetic, felt good, light headed etc....
Any diet that is so restrictive as this is going to do a couple of things:
1. With denial of food, when you start eating food again, your ability to make wise decisions about choices is skewed.
2. Cravings are not quieted, they seem to be even stronger
3. You arent learning how to eat properly, since you aren't eating
4. Getting on track for your WOE is harder

Hope this helps you decide if youwant to do this, it doesn't seem worth it to me these days. I like eating my food, so that is the way I am continuing.

Doing that Hollywood Diet one time was enough for me. It didn't really give me the results that I had so desired...I did that for two days and then didn't eat for two days and only lost 5 lbs - which didn't seem like a lot for not eating for four days....but it seems my weight loss is slower than molasses anyway...64 lbs shed in 2.5 years...yep...slower than molasses. (but not too much loose skin which is one of the benefits of losing the weight that slow)

I know some people who will do stuff like the Hollywood Diet just to shed a few extra pounds...that was why I was wondering if it was a real or false weight loss...kinda like the movie stars...if an event is coming up, most of them have the rule that if it doesn't fit through a straw, they won't touch it so I'm sure they are losing false fat or whatever you want to call it.

I have heard of the plan that you were doing...I saw a book on it called How to Fight False Fat or something like that and scanned that section. It looked interesting but personally, I'd rather lose weight the natural way than starving myself...that only makes you binge and desire more to eat.

I think the whole thing is a bunch of baloney. If we're eating the right foods our bodies shouldn't need this mysterious "detoxifying." Drink lots of water and you'll be healthier, but our bodies are designed to eat food.

Just my 2 cents.
