| I've been stuck in a trading range around 230-235 since July 31 of last year. Got weighed in at the doc yesterday and I'm down to 223!! (Posts about it here http://www.lowcarbeating.com/bb/show...light=weigh-in and here http://www.lowcarbeating.com/bb/show...8&page=2&pp=10 ) My weigh-in history now is: 288 December 10, 2002 (when I started) 252 May 1, 2003 237 July 31, 2003 231 November 6, 2003 232 February 5, 2004 223 May 14, 2004 Total weight loss in 18 months: 65 pounds. I only weigh myself at the doctor so I won't go crazy weighing myself daily, as I have done during past weight-loss adventures. So, what have I been doing differently? Well, I changed my plan a bit. I posted an embarassingly large number of posts here about always eating to satisfaction and being satisfied as long as my Ketostix showed some color. I finally decided that the facts weren't completely validating this approach. I was maintaining my weight quite well, but 230ish was heavier than I wanted to be. Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds, heheh... I now permit myself to endure some occasional but light hunger. I no longer endulge in the same frequent in-between meal snacks. I have brunch, dinner, and sometimes a salad before bed. (It seems to help me sleep.) Between meals, I have been satisfying cravings with Trident gum and coffee. I still do have some snacks like pecans and chocolate soymilk, but less frequently. I'm also eating less cheese now, mostly because I'm trying to avoid another kidney stone, another of which I had a couple of months ago. (That's another interesting story.) I'm very happy today.

| Way to go Doc! I believe I'm going to have to slightly "cut back" myself if I'm ever going to get to my target weight (well...first target weight..). I keep seasawing (sp?) between 178 and 188.

| That's great news, and commendable perseverance. Myself being on a 5-month stall, I am also re-looking at my WOE.

| As someone who seems to be in permanent maintenance, I love news like this! Congrats--and how on earth do you stand the suspense of not weighing?? Thanks for the how-to info. Just a reminder that we all have to be responsible for our own version of the program. Best wishes! |
