| I started in January and have manager to lose 40 lbs so far. Yeah me!!! But I am really getting sick of the diet. Im sick of eggs and stuff and its getting really hard to be at a BBQ and not have a bun with my burger to walk around with. I have great support from my friends and I feel great. I get so many compliments on the lose almost everyday. I stopped following the atkins phases right after induction. I really haven't added in more carbs gradually but i have lately started to add in more sugar type stuff and fruit back in. I started with berries and jello and redi whip and low carb bars. I am just wondering what other kind of fruit and other summer items I can add in and how will I know other than ketosis sticks if im going to hit a stall? Please some advice thank you

| First, congratulations on your loss! That's great! Second, I don't think there is ANY way to predict a stall. However, if you start adding back in carbs in the form of sugars OTHER than low-carb fruits, you're probably inviting cravings back into your life. Any berries are really good - strawberries, blueberries, any black, rasp, or boysenberry - and this is THE time of year to get them. As for barbecues, why not take yourself a couple slices of low-carb bread in a sandwich baggie and put your burger on THAT? I particularly like the Orowheat (or Arnold's) multigrain bread. There are also low carb burger buns out there some places, but I've never seen them around my area. No matter, I like the bread just fine. And for whipped topping, RediWhip does contain sugar - but you could whip up your own heavy cream and sweeten with Splenda and avoid the sugar altogether. There are lots of choices besides eggs, you might want to check back through some of the threads on the Newbies forums for ideas for meals that don't include just eggs and meat. Check out our recipes area too, lots of GREAT stuff in there.... Keep up the great work! Char

| Several ways--ketosticks quit successfully measuring after 50gs of carbs--I am beyond that almost every day now--in my 5th month--well, 4.5 today! You need to add--especially if you are sick of the food choices now--plain yogurt witha couple of packets of splenda and 1/8 cup of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries are awesome and the yogurt cultures diminish the milk sugars so they are about (bys ome estimations as few as 1/4--I count them as 1/2)half of what they were originally, sf jello is good over top berries too--add in melons--honey dew, cantaloupe or watermelon (1/2 cup is 5 carbs about). Add in about 10 grapes (10 carbs if you get the big grapes) or measure them by ounces and then 4 ounces is about 10! Have a grapefruit if you like them--1/2 has about7 carbs. Oranges are not such a good choice, but apples--1/2 apple with an ounce of cheddar is wonderful as a snack, add in nuts--almonds, macadamia nuts, sunflower seeds (in the shell are fabulous--my chip substitute), peanuts are a little higher but OK too, pecans, you name it about 1/4 cup is a serving. Have a kiwi fruit (about 10 carbs for a medium sized one). Sugar is not the way to add more carbs--natural carbs are much better--teh refined sugars are what got you to the point you were 4 months ago! Allow yourself a bun now and then or buy a package of LC buns and take one along if you feel the need to eat one that is on your menu, add in some LC bread with natural peanut butter and some SF jelly or jam. You will also stop losing at some point and that is your clue. You do need to be keeping track of how many carbs you are eating too--so you know what your carb level for losing is--I stop at about 45 net carbs. Now that I am exercising more I think it is around 60, but haven't retried tog et it up there to find out for sure--I am in two challenges right now and want to reach goal weights--not a time to be checking that out. Anyway, try more natural sugars and more carbsfrom veggies, check out the lists int he book again on the glycemic load and choose most from level one-about twice a week have one from the second level and once a week have one from the third level and see how you do! Skip the eggs--eat things like cottage cheese, tuna, chicken or egg salad for breakfast--have a piece of LC toast with peanut butter, I skip the bars and have the shakes if I want a treat, the bars cause gastrointestinal issues for me. Just my $.02.

| Whenever I get bored, or tired of this woe, I know it is time to go online for more recipes! I have 2 kids at home, and hubby, and I cannot stand to cook separate meals for myself. I have experimented, and found many recipes for low-carb dinners that they enjoy. I try to mix up my breakfast (its everyone for themselves in the am) so that I only eat eggs every once in awhile. Here are a few suggestions for bkfst, along with some places to look for lc meals. lc yogurt, mock danish (recipe here,at lce) , lc cereal with carb countdown for the milk (its expensive, but one 1/2 gallon lasts me a week), lc pancakes (called almond, or ? pancakes, recipe also here) I actually rarely eat eggs in the morning anymore, I get tired of them too quickly :-) It may seem like too many carbs in the am, but with the lc recipes for dinner, it is easy to keep the total below 20-35 for the day. Try the recipes here, there are several really good ones. I found many that my family enjoys at photopics.com and other lc sites. Just type in lowcarb +recipes in your search bar for a list of sites! I found my family was very supportive in trying out new recipes, as long as I didn't get offended when they didn't like one. I agreed not to keep cooking the ones they gave a thumbs down to, now I have at least 15 lc dinner recipes that they actually ask for! Congratulations on the 40 lb loss, that is fantastic!! Be very careful about adding 'sugar' back in though! One of my favorite treats for myself when I am feeling deprived is a bowl of frozen blueberries. I slightly sweeten some heavy cream with splenda, then add the berries (still frozen) and stir. Let it sit for maybe 3 - 5 minutes, it is almost like a blueberry ice-cream, as the cream sticks itself to the berries! Yummy. Hard to feel deprived ifyou can have that! My son begs for that, even if there is regular ice-cream in the fridge (he is 16). Hope this helps! |

| I really am not sure how people get bored with this way of eating. There is a lot of variety. The problem is with lack of imagination, not lack of variety. I don't even eat eggs most days, or bacon or sausage. If you eat the same stuff all the time, whether you're dieting or not, you'll get tired of it. It's great to lose weight so quickly, but the problem is going to be keeping it off if you're not staying with the program. |

| 40 lbs lost, wow. Now why would you want to mess that up. Girl u better get creative in that kitchen and stay with this woe. Anything high carb has a low carb version. Thats my mentality anyway. Youve done too well to even consider reversing your progress. Think about it now, why would you want to put that 40lbs back on.
