| What type of bread do you eat(if you eat bread). The low carb bread or the whole wheat/whole grain bread. I used to eat the low carb bread for a couple of months, then i found some whole wheat bread that was actually on 7gr of net carbs per serving and i decided to switch even tho im a long way from pre-maintenance. I have been eating the whole wheat regularly for almost 2 weeks now and i have no problems at all so far. And it really tastes so much better than the lc bread. it even toasts better and the rest of the family likes it also, which is great. Now i also make sure im not going overboard with it, i have 2 slices maybe 3 times a week. And its not as pricey as the lc breads, lil more than regular bread, but less than the lc bread. Has anyone had any negative side effects using the whole wheat/whole grain bread.

| Bread of any type stalls me, but if it's not stalling you I wouldn't worry about it. |

| I use either the whole wheat or multigrain Orowheat low carb breads. They taste great, they toast well, they're 6 grams carbs per slice, and they're available in my grocery store - as well as Costco where 2 loaves are $3.99! That's a good buy! I think this is also known as Arnold's in some sections of the country.... Char

| Yes, that sounds like the Arnold's brand available here on the east coast. It's quite good for a lc bread.

| Thankfully, I've never been much of a bread person...to me it is just what keeps the good stuff from getting on my hands! When I went in search of a lowcarb substitute (before there were many lowcarb breads out there), I found the La Tortilla Factory tortillas and got hooked on the whole wheat ones. They come in two sizes and I use them for my bread substitute for everything. Even for "garlic toast" when we had spahgetti the other night. (Mine, sans the pasta!) I've seen so many ads for lowcarb breads now, that I may scope out some (and check this thread again!) and keep some in the freezer for the occasional "regular" sandwich.

| I like the Nature's Own Wheat N Fiber and it toasts nicely and I amde dd french toast with it today and it didn't mess that up either--Sara Lee is horrible in french toast (gets soggy and you can't get the middle done!

| I use Natures own also, and enjoy it, but I don't eat very much of it. I freeze the loaf and get out what I need. Its keeps well... Sara Lee has more carbs. I am still waiting on those Natures own, low carb buns they promised would be out this summer. Anyone seen them yet?

| Doesn't regular bread have sugar? Woudn't that be something those on an LC lifestyle want to avoid, processed sugars?

| I agree. The ingredients are just as, or more important than, the carb count for me. I find that anything with HFCS, any type of sugars, or white flour will touch off cravings for me.

| Most of the breads they're talking about here are whole grain breads or lc breads which are very low glycemic, and safe for some of us to consume without the side effects of regular white bread.

| I totally agree with you on that Red, heck ive seen one brand have the label whole wheat in big letters and in tiny letters it said made with, so unless you are reading the labels you could end up getting a product made with refined flours and sugars rather than the whole grain products.

| haven't really started working bread back in yet, but decided it's time. I picked up some Pepperidge Farm Carb Style whole wheat last night. Pretty good taste & texture - 5 net carbs per slice. I do like the idea of freezing some - I got a bag of something before and didn't use it. So took out 4 slices and froze the rest. That'll keep me for the week, I'm sure.

| I don't know if any of you have had any problems with sara lee brand triggering cravings but I have. I have found that the Koeplingers or Aunt Millies wheat does good for me.

| i absolutely refuse to buy bread with the low carb label. for one, its outrageously expensive (i think the people who make the bags must charge a hundred times as much for those extra 7 letters on the bag). and for another, the slices are usually skinnier and smaller! well duh, of course its lower in carbs, half the slice is missing =P instead, i buy whole grain breads with anywhere from 9-11g per slice, but they are the wide slices. miltons, which is available at costco, falls into that category, as does the healthy way sprouted grain breads. i dont actually eat the bread tho except for the rare slice or sandwich, its mainly for my 7 yr old who eats very little sugar or processed grains, and my SO's lunches (he can lose still on a higher carb level than i).
