Talking The power of compliments

I had been having a bad carb week. PMS time, craving bad, bad things. The other night we all went out in a big group, to dinner and the symphony. I had bought a new outfit, stretchy no-waist black pants with a sheer blouse/camisole...this outfit hides nothing. Anyway, as we were walking to the restaurant my best friend's dad commented that I was 'wasting away'. My friends also had nothing but compliments for my outfit (this group would be brutally honest) This, for me, is a huge compliment; I have not seen much change on the scales for months. However, the low-carbing and gym visits (which I had been slacking on) are obviously paying off.

This just strengthened my resolved and made the cravings seem insignificant. And the gym visits not just important, but essential.

So...bottom line. If you're thinking about giving someone a compliment, DO IT!! It'll make their day, and maybe even change their attitude a little!

Great story. I have been blown away by the compliments I've received after losing 25 lbs on Atkins. It seems to me that they seem to come in waves. That is, although my weight loss has been steady (I lost 12 pounds the first three weeks and then about 2 pounds a month since then), the changes in my body have not. That is, all of sudden I'll drop a size, or all of a sudden my clothes really look much better. Then the compliments will come in from everyone. Then I will look pretty much the same for a month or two, and then bang, I lose another size all of a sudden.

The compliments have been extremely powerful motivators for me. I'm just about at my goal weight and a little sad that, no doubt, they will stop since I will no longer surprise anyone. Oh well, small price to pay.

good job Tara... it is oh so true how a compliment can realy change peoples out look...

But you know i hear it from the same people over and over sometiems i tell them i havent lost any more just to shut them up.. like my boss at work (whom is now watching his carbs) he constantly coments on how much i have lost.. i do enjoy the compliments but .. there are 2 other woman at my work whom have been trying to loose weight (both doing low fat..) and they havent gone anywhere... i realy hate to see the look on their face when they hear people say *WOW your looking GREAT! how much have you lost?* they just roll their eyes and shake their heads... I have told them loand them books but they still would rather do their diets... so... i let them alone...
anymore i just shrug off coments..beacuse i hate to enjoy them when people around me are sulking...

Gilley, girl, let them sulk, take your compliments and hold your head up. because deep inside they know your diet is working better than theirs and who knows eventually they may actually crossover all because you were an unintentional influence on them. I bet you they're gonna try low carb real soon. You, the results are staring them in the face everyday, i just love it. Great job, keep it up.
