Default I'm drowning here!

I know this may have been discussed before, but I can't seem to get enough water these days.

I was doing pretty good - hitting 4-5 24 oz bottles - which was fine. Now I am through 4 of them by lunch, and still wanting about 3-4 more by end of day. Summer weather? More exercise? something seems to have triggered this and I don't know what.

just seeing what others have experienced.... I know, it may actually be helpful, but I haven't had this water craving before.

I don't want to alarm you in any way, but excessive thirst can be a warning sign of diabetes:

"While there are "classic" warning signs that often accompany diabetes, i.e., excessive thirst, excessive hunger, excessive urination, excessive tiredness, and unexplained weight loss, many people with type 2 diabetes do not have these symptoms." from www.DiabetesWatch.com

I guess you need to watch it and see if you get any other symptoms or if you can pinpont the thirst to some other cause.

don't think it is a sign. No history, had blood work done in March and everything is totally normal. 'Unexplained weight loss" - I WISH!!!!!!
not blowing it off, just seemed a little unusual for me. could be that I am getting some early morning exercise now that I wasn't before. Or maybe psycological. If I get my water in - I get to drink something else witih dinner

It's not horrible yet, just about 50% more than I was before - just doesn't seem like I am 'having to' anymore. Maybe that is a good sign?

I'm also having the same situation with water. The more I take in, the more I want and crave it. I do think some of it is psycological because I like to believe the more I take in, the more fat is leaving my body. Plus I use the water consumption for a treat. The more I drink during the day the more I feel that it's ok that have something to drink with dinner like a diet coke or maybe after dinner a small piece of LC chocolate.
This is all very weird to me even though it's awesome because before this I was a die hard regular soda gal.

While excessive thirst is an early warning sign of diabetes, it may be that your body is liking being *hydrated* for the first time in years, if you haven't been a big water drinker before this WOE/WOL. Once the body gets *used* to having a normal amount of water on board, it wants to make sure you continue to *water* it well, and your thirst mechanism kicks in and therefore you continue to drink.
I cannot recall where I read this, but it does makes sense.

I drink more water--beginning to prefer it over other things--often not finishing a diet dr pepper but I will often finish a 22oz bottle of water before school starts and I used to drink a 12 oz dr pepper. . .I do have to go to the bathrooom more often during work than I have time for though!

I'm so happy someone brought this up! I have been wondering if there is something wrong with me. I think I agree with Shelley though. I was a person who would go a day or more without drinking ANYTHING! So now that I get in between 70-100 oz. of water a day, I think my body is used to it and makes sure I keep it up. I finally know what it is to be thirsty. I was so dehydrated before I didn't even feel thirsty, but now there is no doubt when I need to keep drinking.

Hey Mary Kay~~

Well I have to say that this is a fine predicament. Too much water. Do you feel boyant? LOL
I know that meat is dehydrating and that might be it.

Do you feel compelled to only drink water when you are thirsty?
I drink when I am thristy, they say that thirst is the first sign of dehydration.
Weird that you can drink that much and still be thirsty.
I wish I had answers, just here to tell you that are doing great and we will talk on the 199 challenge.

Protein Queen -

Buoyant...LOL...Thanks for the laugh.

I am incredibly thirsty since I have been working out 6 days a week. I am drinking two 50 oz. bottles daily and am now taking a large glass to bed with me at night. I know I don't have diabetes or anything like that, but wow, I never thought I'd be such a water fan!

Oh well, at least it leaves virtually NO ROOM for pop, I don't even touch it anymore. I don't like belching constantly.
