| Hey everyone, I feel like the question girl on the board, I was wondering if you can ever have too much fiber and if it will stall your weight loss. |

| Too much fiber? I really don't think so. The only down side I can think of would be an increase in the time in the bathroom. But that would only make your colon cleaner, and more healthy. As for stalling from fiber itself, that is not really possible. The fiber always stays inside your intestines/gut. It has no effect on your bodies metabolism and is defenitely not digested as a carb.

| I really don't think it is possible to get too much. Matter of fact, most people can't get enough.

| The way I understand it, the only problems from raising the level of fiber in your diet come from raising it too fast, which can cause intestinal distress, and not drinking enough water, which can cause an obstruction. The first problem is only temporary, until your body adjusts, and the second only happens if you take in really large amounts and don't have enough liquids for the fiber to absorb. Fiber is necessary for good health, and can't stall you.

| Good things said so far. Is there something specific you planned to consume to increase your fiber above the recommended "healthy" amount? Frankly, I've always considered it a challenge just to get enough--something like 25 gms a day--let alone too much. Now that I'm in maintenance, I enjoy adding a variety of beans to my diet from time to time. Good fiber, good flavor, good nutrition. However, if you consume too much (of anything), you'll also get calories--and too many calories can definitely affect your weight loss. |

| It should neither help nor hurt in terms of weight loss. It will certainly contribute to regularity. HTH.
