we have had this conversation before... in another thread.. from working in retail for many many years i know that if a custy makes the comment FIRST about something they are purchasing then i feel free to chime in.. but if they DONT bring it up first.. what they buy is THEIR business.. not mine... if they continue to critique your purchases.. i say again.. TELL THE MANAGER... hopefully they will bring it up at their next meeting and let ALL the employees what is acceptable behavior in the checkout line..
it IS rude to critique a persons purchases.. but nothing stops you from making a discreet call to the manager..;-)

There are definitely a lot of reasons to order a burger without a bun besides low carb. A wheat allergy maybe? Gluten free diet? It's funny though because we all jump to conclusions sometimes in life hard as we try not to!

It's usually a waste of time to preach to somebody who doesn't want to hear it, so I try to keep my comments to myself. Still, I do spout off about maltitol, once in a while, if it's obvious somebody is reading a label on a low-carb product.

There are some things you can't help other people with. They have to fumble around, by themselves, before they get serious enough to seek better answers. I think it's a safe wager that almost everybody here has dieted before, probably multiple times, so you can judge that for yourself from your own experience.

my only main issue was the lady in grocrie store makeing the assumption that i was eating the snack cakes.. and my LC stuff...

i have never got a comment like that when i have 1 of my kids w/.. i never got a comment lke that befor ... guess i just realy didnt know how to react and was stuned someone had the nerve to say something when they didnt even know me... j

I do understand about me saying w/ the person at my work ordering the burger no bun.. w/ the breaded cauliflower.. it is better to get the califlower than say an order of fries.. and for all i know they could have pulled the breading off.. i have done that a time or two when we had an order cancled and i didnt want to throw the califlower away..

Was realy not that big of a deal... i just hate when people "think" out loud.. i usualy keep my thoughts inside..

I hope the Carb Police did not watch me eat at IHOP this evening!! I had a T-bone, double broccoli, and (gasp) onion rings!! I even had a modest amount of ketchup with it. Those were the only carbs I'd had all day up to that point. I don't even see it as a cheat. I took some of the batter off the onion rings and tried to be minimal with the ketchup. I also skipped dessert and have had 2 bottles of water since I got home. That was 5 hours ago, so I guess I'm covered on the not-eating-at-least-3-hours-before-bed thing.

When I do the weekly shopping, I have to go down EVERY aisle. I have to buy for my husband, my 6 yr. old daughter, a dog, a cat, and a lowcarber. If anyone bothers me, I'll just tell them to get a life. I have wondered, though, what the checkers might be thinking when they check a half-gallon of store brand ice cream, a box of Popsicles, and some Keto i/c sandwiches....."Wow, this woman likes variety!" NO. Having been a checker in the past, I can tell you: they're thinking "I just want to get this crap rung up so I can get outta here soon." Honestly. No one WITH A LIFE OF THEIR OWN gives a hoot.

Sorry you had that experience. Good topic, though.

I speak from experience. Believe me. Without structure and being strict, I DO fail.

This is not true for everyone. I'm just interjecting my two cents and what works for me.

I'm with April here. For me eating the way a "normal" person does means that I have no control. Without that control I reached a high of 330 lbs. and at 5'8" and in my forties that is not a good thing. :(

I believe that people that are allowing themselves to "fall-back" into old habits will ultimately fail, no matter what program they are using. The secret for me is to re-work this thinking. To just say "having a cookie is natural" is defeatest. The truth for me is, no I cannot eat cookies, LC candy bars, etc... The reason? Well, these "foods" are the things trigger responses that I cannot control, thus I refuse to allow them in my life. I guess I could be considered a "food nazi".

Cool Re: comments at the grocrie store

Where alot of people speak out, thinking they are actually doing you a favor by doing so...I am sure this woman was being a ...fart.

Thinking out loud is ok, if you mean it for your ears only, ya know? I talk to myself ALL of the time...either myself or my wall-

My mother is a prime ex. of a person who gives un wanted advice. But she truly does it with no harm intended. "Only trying to be helpful, hun!" As I roll my eyes yet again-

To be honest, I worry more about fitting through the doors, more so than what people say-ouch!

To each their own!

Also some people order bunless burgers and the like because they have celiac's disease, or allergies to one thing or another - so I try real hard NOT to assume that everyone is doing what I'm doing, only not as well as I do! LOL!!
