Default Sharing my good news....

I finally had my blood work done last week, I was really hesitant about it because I was worried that the results would'nt be any better than last years, and maybe worse. Well, I got the results when I had my doctors visit friday, and I was really surprised by the results! My doctor was very happy with the nunmbers. Here are the results of the past 3 years. May 20, 2002... I was eating a "Balanced Diet" here are the results for that year. Glu..96 Trig..81 Chol..282 Ldl..169 Hdl..83 with a ratio of 3.3 My Doctor wasn't happy with those numbers, so he put me on a very "low fat" diet. I went back and had more blood work done on Dec.11, 2002. Here are the results after 7 months on a very low fat diet. Chol.. 237 Ldl..143 Hdl..58 Trig..98 Ratio..4.0 as you can see my ratio is much higher!! Well, Doctor was very pleased, said to stay on low fat diet. I said to heck with that!! So I started eating "Low Carb" Jan 7, 2003, Fifteen months later I am down to 119 pounds from 140 pounds and the icing on the cake, are the results of my blood work last week. Glu..96 Trig..51 Chol..237 Ldl..124 Hdl..89 Ratio 2.5 I am so pleased with myself Doctor was pleased too!! He said, continue diet, thinking I did this on a low fat diet. I let him know right off that I have been eating low carb and feeling great on it, He smiled, said good job, continue diet...... Just had to share . earlene

WTG Earlene,
That's wonderful news! Doesn't it make you feel good to know this IS the healthy WOL? I need to get my labs rechecked soon, and I hope I have as good of results as you.
Thanks for sharing!

Congratulations, Earlene!

You had a nice little experiment on yourself there, with a sample of one, but the "one" who matters, you!

I've had wonderful changes in my lipid profile, too!

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I don't post very often, but I do check the site most days, and have read the post of some new low carbers, that are concerned about how this way of eating will affect their cholesterol. I thought by sharing my experiences on three different ways of eating, "balanced diet", "low fat diet" , and "low carb eating", It would be apparent that low carb is the way to go. "Ultra Low Fat" in my case, was the worse way to eat, I was eating 10% fat and my HDL dropped 25 points.(Not Good) I hope everyone that needs to have better cholesterol numbers, will have as good or better results as I have had with low carb eating. Good Luck everyone!! earlene
