Default Too many cookies....

Today I decided to make cookies (low carb)....I made Butter Almond cookies from the Atkin's cookbook. Anyway, ended up eating more then I should @ 4.5 NET CARBS each! The crazy thing is I really did'nt like them that much, I just think it was the idea that it had been SO long since I had a cookie and they smelled REALLY good baking.

So now I feel REALLY guilty and TOTALLY blew my total net carbs for the day. Obviously, have'nt gotten a handle on my sugar cravings yet (Of course I have no one to blame except myself!!!!!)

Just threw the rest in the trash.....I know that's a waste of money but I just won't tempt myself again (my dd and dh won't eat them).

Realized that I do much better with individual size portions since I STILL tend to overeat sweets (even though they are low carb), going to skip baking large sized desserts for the time being.

I still can't believe I did that!!!!!! I'm so mad at myself!!!!!!!

Don't beat yourself up--focus on what you learned--and move on! One bad day didn't blow the whole week or month--just today! I blew today too--2 hotdogs with the buns and GASP--ketchup! OH well, I knew better--was starvinga nd it sounded so good--now am bloated and miserable--and I knew I would be as I finished the second one!!!!! MOve on and quit beating yourself up over it--you learned you can't bake the whole thing or you eat the whole thing!!!! I know that too so when I plan on making a whole desert it has to be calore free and carb free--or I cant' bake it! I too eat it--ALL!!!! I do SF jello w/shipped cream or SF jello with berries and whipped cream--I can eat one serving save the rest for later and be happy with it!

I just recently posted a similar thread. I ditto what Huskers said...don't beat yourself up. You learned something...you do better with individual sizes. At least you did it with low carb cookies. Last week I did it with Non-low carb oatmeal raisin, and ate about fifteen of them. Completely skipped lunch and just kept guiltily putting them in my mouth all day.
Sometimes we need to do things like that to continually make new reference points. We think that because we've been doing this for a while we can handle it, but I have found that I don't think I will ever be able to handle the sweets again, and that may just be my thing to deal with.
Don't get depressed, keep reading the book and look at some before/after pictures here or at Atkins to refocus your motivation.
You can do just like they all did.

corrine-sorry to hear you had a rough day!

regarding the cookies-don't feel bad, either about eating them or throwing them out. it's all part of the process of learning what works for us and what doesn't. and i don't believe we should ever eat food just to avoid "wasting it." because it's much more of a waste to eat something that isn't good for us and we don't even want anyway! i'd rather have my cookies in the trash than on my behind!!

Amen Goddess!! I once heard someone say -- "Why worry about waisting food -- it all winds up as waste in the end anyway!!"

i understand where you're coming from ...
but i live in downtown chicago, and there are so many homeless people that need food. i have trouble rationalizing waste. maybe try giving food away before tossing it.
just my 2 cents ...

You know.. even after a year and half of doing LCE I still can not control myself when it comes to sweets (lc or otherwise). So unless I have a planned HC day...I just don't make or buy the stuff because that thing in my brain says I have to eat it ALL AT ONCE!

Anyways..I don't think you did anything bad.. and as goddess said... you used it to learn from so it's all good!

cgwilson269-
I live in Honolulu, HI and there are a lot of homeless living in the area too. I totally agree with giving away food to others that are needy. In fact, when I first started this woe I cleaned out my pantry and took a few bags of nonperishable items to my local church & they give out food to the needy.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid the cookies would not have made it & the few that were left ended in my trash!!! Besides, they were'nt even tasty and they belonged in the trash in the first place!!!

Thanks to everyone for their support, I feel better today and actually learned a lesson in the process!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!!

Tracy
