Default not losing for quite some time

Is it possible for a persons body to get "use to" the lc way that they no longer lose weight? I've been very good as far as my LC eating has been going yet its been quite some time since i've lost weight. In the beginning i was losing weight at a good rate but now its been months without anything. This is is a typical menu for me:

B: (7:00am): 2 eggs with cheddar cheese sprinkled on top and two sausage links or bacon strips

S: (10:30am) a small bunch of cauliflower or 3-4 small strips of green pepper

L: (1:00) a hot dog, small salad and maybe some cauliflower

S: (3:30pm) a small bunch of cauliflower or 3-4 small strips of green pepper

D: (7:30-8pm) grilled chicken, or fish, small salad and some sort of veggie

i drink lots of water and sometimes within some of my meals i may have a small glass of chocolate carb countdown or a single slice of cheese

How much do you have to lose? How many carbs do you have on a typical day? It doesn't sound like you're having enough. If you're past the first two weeks, you have to get out of induction in order to keep losing.

Having said that, some of us get in long stalls and don't lose no matter what. But if you aren't eating enough carbs that could be the problem.

Hi!
Your menu looks good to me. You could probably add a little more protein, but that would only be tweaking a little.

I'm wondering what you weigh now and how much you have to lose? If you are att your last 10 lbs., that is a notorious hard decade to lose.

Also wondering was "some time" is? Has it been a week, a month, several months (how many)? Many of us stall for some time on this wol. there are as many different stories of how to break a stall as there are stalls, almost!

I varied the number of carbs I ate from one day to the next. I ate 30 one day and 70 to 100 the next, and on and on for a week or so. That broke the stall and then I could continue on ongoing weight loss. I also had good luck with the egg fast. If you search this forum you will find what that is.

Good luck
Peace, Peg

Looking at your menu, you are too low in several ways. It looks like you are low on fat, carbs, and calories.
Your body can go into starvation mode and not let go of any weight.

or it can just be the nasty stalling. I think I went 1-1/2 month with nothing. then I upped my food (cause of vacation) and lost 4 lbs. go figure.

sometime (when i have them around) i munch on berries and such. So you think that the reason that i'm not losing could be because i'm eating too little carbs?? AHH CONFUSING!...i've been at the same weight for about 3 months now. I do only have about 10 more pounds to go. What are some things that i can eat that are higher in carbs but still on this way of life (without resorting to bread and pasta?)

Well, I like to think of it as "NOT GAINING" for quite some time!

Although my body seems to cling to the dreaded "last ten pounds" no matter what I do, I truly believe that it continues to change in favorable ways as I enjoy the low-carb lifestyle. I exercise daily, make sure I get my carbs from fresh veggies, nuts, and berries, and otherwise live a life as close to "normal" as I ever had. That feels great to me!

While it sounds trite and as if I'm stating the obvious, I really mean this: since you're ten pounds from goal, it might take awhile to get there.

Something which may help is to count calories as well as carbs at this stage of the game. It's difficult to do, but it can be done. I'm not a doctor (and have never played one on TV ), but I've heard -- and done this myself with great success -- that staying at about 900 - 1,200 calories per day, as well as 50 - 60 carbs per day, for at least 3 days per week really gets the scale moving in the right direction.

It's also been my experience that if I want to lose weight more quickly, that I step up my exercise routine while eating as described above.

Oh, and one more thing -- no low carb treats of any kind. None. Nada.

My two cents...

Another thing to consider is the appropriateness of your "goal." There is a range of acceptable weights based on height, bone structure, etc. Even native peoples, eating a native diet of very, very little carbohydrate content, do not waste away. So (having maintined for a number of years) it is my conclusion that the long term effect of a low carb lifestyle is that one's weight normalizes and then stays there.

On the other hand, I didn't have a specific weight goal, other than "maybe lose 20 lbs."

Just another point of view.

Just another suggestion...

At this point in your program, you can eat lots and lots and lots of green vegetables. It's really important for long-term success to have plenty of variety in your diet, so go for the greenery.

My salads are amazing mixtures of anything veggie that happens to be in the fridge. (This doesn't include green crud growing on non-vegetable products.)
So don't hold back on the dark green leafies, squash, broccoli, mushrooms, celery, shredded cabbage, cauliflower, and all the peppers you like. Filling and fun to eat!

For fruit variety, berries are excellent. Blueberries and strawberries have been identified as good anti-oxidants and brain food. I buy mixed berries frozen at Costco, and pour out 1/4 cup. I like to eat them frozen for a treat.
You can put berries in the salad, too.
