Loved the top 10 list! I am, and, have been for years, a coffeeholic. The best, bar none, coffee that I have ever had is Jamaican Blue Mountain. Prohibitively expensive, but nectar of the gods, IMHO. Currently, DH and I (he never drank coffee until he met me and now he's worse than I am) buy French Roast beans in bulk from BJ's (blue bag) - current ratio is eight or nine (or if livin' large 10) scoops of beans to 10 cups of water. Oh, and I am currently on a steamed cream kick, but I'll probably go back to black at some point. I usually cruise through the pot before I head off to work, and that's it. I rarely have coffee after breakfast.

I too love coffee, and thought it was the greatest addiction anyone could have. I then started having problems and my Doc said no coffee, not even decaf. Well, I told him I was still going to drink decaf anyhow after researching how little caffeine it actually has. I have not had any issues with it.

I have also found some good decafs too. My favorite was Kona. I brought a suitcase back of it when we went to Hawaii. Starbucks also makes a decent decaf, but there's a local company called 8 o'clock that has very reasonably priced decaf that has a nice full rich flavor. It tastes even better than Starbucks.

Maxibee, a few restaurants here serve the Green Mountain coffee, the decaf could use some improvements....

I bought some of the Green Mountain coffee at the HFS over the winter. The Winter Blend was delicious. For everyday, I use Eight O' Clock Coffee, Bokar Blend. Or drink whatever cheap peasant junk my co-workers have brewed.

Ah, there is nothing like the aroma of a pot of freshly brewed coffee. "Smack" I prefer mine black, strong and around room temprature. I think that most coffe bars serve it too hot. So I alway ask for just a few chunks of ice to bring the "black ambrosia" to a consumable level.

Peet's coffee bar, IMO, has the best coffee. Don't care much for Starbucks. In the grocery store there is this brand called "Don Fredrico" in my area. Very inexpensive, yet full bodied piquant tasting.

I am a coffee junkie too. However I enjoy mine laced with sugar...i am getting adjusted to atkins syrups and splenda etc....
If there was a starbucks in town..I doubt i would be doing atkins. I LOVE STARBUCKS and thankfully i live in a small hick town. I loved the white mocha's..and their iced coffees..oh man...
Coffee ice cream by starbucks..TO DIE FOR!
I am now hooked on foldger's vanilla coffee....i can drink that stuff black..and coming from a sugar fly like me....that has to be a feat in itself.

Jamaica Blue Mountain. You think you're addicted now, wait until you try your first cup. If you're ever in Miami or have a stopover in the Miami Airport, stop in one of the shops and pick up a pound. You'll hate all other brands, I promise you!!

I'm fortunate, my partner is from the Caribbean and the family sends us our supply way cheaper than you can get it here--around $7 a pound. :great:

Ahhhhh, the thread of my dreams. . .
I plot how long my pocket money will last each week, by how many days I think I'll get to the coffeehouse for my triple breve. . .
One of my favorites is Starbucks Sumatra, I buy the bag o beans whenever I'm in a civilized town that has a starbucks. I also like Don Francisco's Cinnamon Hazelnut. This is a grocery store brand here locally, but you gotta tone it down. One scoop in the basket, and the rest a regular unflavored is the way to go. I once purchased a gourmet flavor called Pumpkin Pie. Smelled like heaven. Well, that first pot just about killed us all, it was so strong. So we messed about trying to tone it down, and the end result was adding three UNGROUND beans to a basket of plain, to get the flavor right. LOL! So you can imagine what that first pot tasted like!

I too love coffee...my Doc suggested I give it up because it was making my PMS much worse. It did help that but god, I missed the taste. Of course I was drinking a TON. Now I have added one cup every other day back in and it has been fine. The ocassional trip to the starbucks is heaven, tho. Good, good coffee is very hard to beat.

I used to have a roommate who made the best coffee - I could never figure out how he did it, and he wasn't talking. Then the little weasel leaked his secret to another java buddy friend of mine (instead of me!!!!), who happily, told me (bless him). Bill used to put 10 scoops of beans per 12 cups of a good french roast and then grate in some dark chocolate, just a tad, or in a pinch, drop in some Hershey's cocoa. My buddy, Crash, still makes it this way. Heaven, I tell you. I do on occasion, but it wreaks havoc with my coffee filter.

Love this thread.....

Coffee is pure heaven. We buy our beans in bulk at Costco - Kirkland brand - which is really Starbucks. It has the Starbucks logo and everything on it.

On weekends we make it in the French press. OMG - the smell of it brewing will make you love everyone and anything!

I also used to take mine with allot of sugar and just a little milk to lighten it up. When I stopped eating sugar, I first had it with allot of cream and it was drinkable. I have been adding less and less and now I like it with just a little cream.

I have a pound of the green mountain at home, it is not decaf so I have not tried it yet. Maybe I will this weekend.

The best coffee I have ever had was at a conference center in Holland. Yes, a conference center. I kept asking about the coffee, it was way totally good, finally they gave me a pound of it, ground. By the end of the stay one of the people working there came up to me (knowing my LOVE for their coffee) and told me that they brew it with cinnamon. I tried putting cinnamon in my filter, and yes it does wreck havic, so I now put a cinn. stick in the pot...it is ssssooooo good with any coffee!

My husband likes folgers brewed so weak you can see through it! I get a good coffee about once a month at a coffee house that brews Austin Chase coffee.

Great Thread!
