Question A Question about Atkins Shakes

Hi there,

I have been hearing various opinions about Atkins LC shakes. I LOVE regular shakes (which sucks because I am lactose intolerant and cannot handle the taste of soy milk), however I heard that some of these Atkins shake flavours don't even taste like the flavours they claim to be. Also, now that I am doing OWL when would I bust out one of these shakes? As a treat? A meal replacement? Hmmm... Could I safely have one of these a day if I like them?

Thanks in advance,
Krystyne :jump:

Hi there!
I actually have not been using the Atkins shakes this time around, but my original go-around with this woe, I had them frequently. It did not affect my rate of loss at all. This time, I am trying to use mostly "regular" food. However, if it does not induce a stall, there is nothing wrong with enjoying them!

I think if you are going to have one, use as a meal replacement (except still have veggies as much as you can). Its really just too much as a snack and then having regular meals. I know several have them for breakfast for the speed and ease. I just need the larger meal for breakfast to get me through the day.

Though I thought the vanilla Atkins shake was very tasty, it didn't satisfy me as a meal replacement. Also, they tempted me to use them more than is wise - I mean, after I finished one, I wanted another right away!

A good way to have them if you're at home--blend in the blender with ice cubes and maybe some DaVinci syrup until nice and thick like a real shake. Very filling this way.

The shakes are great. They don't have any sugar alcohols either. Just make sure that they are as cold as you can make them before you drink them; also don't forget to shake well.

They wouldn't be enough for a complete meal replacement, but I used to have them as a midnight snack for a while. They were enough to fill me up and allow me to sleep.

Because of my lengthy morning commute and dropping my son at daycare I drink a vanilla Atkins shake every morning for breakfast. Tides me over nicely till about 10:30. Then I snack on some nuts or cheese sticks to hold me over until lunch.

i drink the chocolate ones, or i used to. they cost too much here! i started drinking carb countdown milk instead. but if you drink 'em, make sure they are very very cold! if they're not cold enough, they taste yucky.

I love the Chocolate Royale and the Cafe au Lait flavors. If I have one for lunch, which I do occasionally, it holds me 2-3 hours. Then as Libby mentioned, I just have a little snack of an ounce of walnuts or raw pecans and I'm fine til dinner!

Sometimes I just rebel at making a lunch for work, so I always keep one or two of these in the work fridge.

In the winter or when it's cold here at the coast (which can be the middle of July!) I like to pour one in a mug and nuke til hot. The Cafe Au Lait is really good that way with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Otherwise like everyone says, make sure they're VERY cold and well-shaken!
