Nothing new in any of these that I can see. Same thing is being printed in many places. Bet you anything that these writers have not done their research. Even dietitians don't do their homework on lcing. I just take my littler body out of the way and let them rant. I'm healthier and leaner than I have been for years. So there!

You can say that again Peg, they all have way too much invested in what they've been saying for years and would have to admit that they have been wrong for years. That's gonna happen, NOT!

Yup. Same old re-hash of old "doctrine" without any attention to what actual, past and present, peer-reviewed studies have shown. Same ole bull$***.

You know what i find most interesting and puzzling...so many people are quick to say this diet is a fad or is not going to be healthy in the long term view...however....the woe has been around since the early 70's right? surely someone has been following it for that period..right? So why now, are studies unable to show long term results or effects on health when the diet has been around longer than i have??
just food for thought really

I heard a woman say today (very matter-of-factly) that the reason she is on again/off again with her Keto diet is "because it is dangerous to stay in ketosis for long periods of time" and that "cancer can exist in an acidic body, but not in an alkaline body, and being in ketosis makes your body acidic"....and she "doesn't want to get cancer". I was at a client account or I would have discussed it with her. I just turned my back and rolled my eyes. Puhleeeeese!

Some "doctor" came to their workplace a few weeks ago and had a seminar about the healthy way to lose weight called the "Keto diet". He charged them $150 each or 2 bags of groceries for charity if they couldn't afford that. They got a lecture and about 4 peices of paper stapled together...basically outlining low-carb eating. Get this: it was printed off the internet with the website clearly listed on the bottom of the page.

I just wanted to scream as all these newfound "experts" were telling me I should get on it and how it works. AAARGH! I just need to learn to ignore all this and keep on going.

i cant tell the difference...must be my brain is always slow!
Well it is all food for thought so to speak. Diet is diet..everything we do is a controversy in society...the way you put your pants on, the way you chew, the way you think, the way you sing...who you marry...everything is judged..so do what works..thats what i do.
I enjoy a healthy debate...especially over this low carb craze thing...science and medacine will never agree...and theory proves nothing
however...i did hear this...minimal carbs causes the brain to slow down
and eating lots of red meats can cause or help cause colon cancer.

Well i always thought flouresent lights caused cancer too...everything causes cancer...breathing causes it...

Low fat worked for me when i was in my early twenties..now im nearing thirty..and low carb is so far..what works
i dont have energy ...this is week two and i feel pretty cruddy but with time..it shall pass....and eventually i will feel the hype everyone else talks about
my mother is doing south beach and said her mind is a lot sharper now....she doesnt feel sluggish and she feels very energetic..i guess that is because her brain is slowing down..huh?

And death only occurs in living organisms. Go figure!

well, I have been concerned about cancer. It's affected my Dad, both Grandfather's and numerous friends have died from it (not my Dad, he's still fighting). I've been concerned with heart disease (Dad, Grandfather's). and I've been concerned with obesity (Grandmother, Mom is overweight as well as myself). But you know what? I could sit here and fear these diseases day after day but this afternoon I started thinking, I drive at least 700-800 miles per week on very busy highways. I bike on city streets, I walk in the evenings in the city..maybe I have more immediate things to worry about other than cancer and heart disease. And the thing is, I never worry about driving that many miles and what other drivers or animals will cross my path, I never worry about getting hit on my bike or abducted as I walk. Those things just don't concern me, yet I can sit here paralyzed that I'm eating too much meat, or that my diet is not low fat enough? No thanks. I'm thru worrying about things that may or may not happen. I'm going to eat low carb because that's how I lose weight and feel better. I'm going to stop borrowing trouble from tomorrow and start enjoying the good health and good blessings I have today. No more analyzing for me.

Amen Goddess and Bear!! I spend way too much time worrying about what might happen. I'm working on changing my mindset to just do it. That perverbial bus could come at any moment, and I'm not going to let fear or nay sayers keep me from living a happy, healthy life that I can enjoy! It all goes by too fast....
