Default The importance of reading labels

This was a lesson learned for me the other day...I went to the nurtrition store here and since they were out of my Keto, I bought the Sipper Sweets Hot Cocoa but didn't read the label...and then as I was reading it, I noticed it had corn syrup solids in it...one of the things of which I'm not too fond but I have been able to tolerate the cocoa until I my Keto comes in.

Today, as I was looking at the yogurt in Safeway, I noticed that Yoplait had lo carb yogurt...I was thinking about pruchasing it to try it but read the label first. 8 grams of carbs and 5 grams of sugar...I was wondering what the sugar might be from so I read the ingredients...fouth on the list, before any fruit, was fructose...so i put it back...no thank you!

That's why it's important to read labels...'cuz sometimes when it does say low carb, it might have something in it that might affect your weight loss so if it's a new product - I'd suggest reading the label first before giving in and buying it...some people would probably be able to handle the fructose. i don't like any yogurt that is made with that stuff. yuk. yuk. yuk.

I just wanted to reempahsize the importance of reading labels from my two recent experiences!

Sheyla-I did the exact same thing with the Yoplait! I noticed that aqua label and the carb claims on it, so I checked it out. Not for me, either! I buy the Dannon Light and Fit Carb Control yogurt. The portions are smaller, 3 carbs for 4 oz. The carbs are from the fruit in them, since "peach" is 4th on the ingredient list and it is Splenda sweetened. (I limit my dairy intake anyway, due to lactose intolerance.)

I don't eat them as much, but when I am looking for some lowcarb chocolate, I look CLOSELY at the labels....if I see the words malitol or sorbitol anywhere on the package, I drop it like a hot potato! If we are what we eat, I don't want to be a laxative!!

LOL at your last statement!

I went to Albertson's today and bought some of the Carb Countdown Yogurt. 4 g of carbs but it says -1 'cuz of the organic acid in it, but I decided to still count it as 4...and it's splenda sweetened plus it taste much, much, much better than any of the other lc yogurts I have tried. I think finally introducing yogurt into my woe got me jumpstarted on losing weight again plus upping my carbs a little helped as well...

I'm really careful about reading labels now...I could have gotten some lc choc tonight but decided I'd rather have the yogurt...no sugar alcohol, the best part! And I can eat one container of yogurt (these are 6 oz) and not want more. Depending on the chocolate, some of that stuff will send me over the edge of wanting more and more.
