| I also tried some Strawberry from Max Muscle Sports. It was 1 carb per scoop and it was really good too! These are a little more expensive than walmart BUT not as expensive as GNC and other type stores. I always added SF jello to the strawberry shakes and it made them really creamy as well. |

| I'm a cheapo. I just buy the EAS Whey protein powder at Costco. As noted before for best results us a Magic Bullet and ice. I add ground flaxmeal at times as well.

| I have been researching protein shakes and the Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey is on my list because it has 24g protein in 1 scoop. 5.15lbs is $37.99 at Vitacost.com. A body builder was raving about PVL Whey Gourmet, Smooth Peanut Butter Chocolate, it was $26.00 for 2#. I've been using EAS from Sam's club but may want to try something new soon. The above are in the running.

| Champion Pure Whey Protein Stack from netrition is good, too. Kind of expensive, at just over $40 per 5 lbs, 23 gms of protein, lots of amino acids, and good taste, too. Their plain old vanilla is very good. Best of all, dh can make himself breakfast!

| I found EAS Advant Edge, a soy protein and only 2 net carbs. My doctor recomended Soy for my high colesterol, It tastes good and you can get it at Wal-Mart for about $5.00 for four. I tried Atkins Chocolate awhile back, but forgot if I liked it or not. I am a chocolate person, so I can't testify to any of the other flavors. Debbi |

| Debbie, I love the EAS AdvantEdge drinks, especially the strawberry, which I can't find anymore. They're quite convenient if you need a take-along meal in a hurry.

| I make my own shakes and it costs less than the powders and cans bought at the stores: In a blender, I mix ice with soy milk (SoySlender soy milk by WestSoy which comes in vanilla, chocolate or cappuccino) and psyllium husk powder. To the vanilla, I sometimes add a few blueberries or strawberries and 1/2 a tsp of vanilla extract. To the chocolate, I sometimes add a package of 4 carb Swiss Miss Diet Cocoa mix for an extra chocolately shake. The amount of protein in the soy milk is around 6-7 gram per 8 oz. serving; in the cocoa mix there are 2 grams per pack. |

| I have found that the whey protein powder from Trader Joes works best for me - both the vanilla and chocolate seem to be tasty enough - I prefer the vanilla, and the carb count is pretty low. I use almond breeze unsweetened milk and lots of ice and 1 packet of sweet and low and either almond or vanilla extract. I have tried s/f raspberry or banana syrup depending on my mood. Good luck!

| Wow, I never thought of making my own shakes, I will have to try that. I mostly drink Atkins Chocolate Royale when I can find it. Seems it is always sold out. |

| Jay Robb's whey protein powder is the tastiest protein shake I ever had. When I first tried it, I thought I was eating a milkshake and it made me a little nervous. Only 1 carb and no sugar alcohols. It is sweetened with the herb stevia. I like it the best vanilla, but he has a lot of flavors. He has a website so just look it up--it's great! |

| I like the Atkins Shakes and find them $2 cheaper at Walmart than anywhere on the Internet. I AM, however, going to try some of these other ones. Cisco |

| I find that when I have a LC Slim-Fast, a couple of hours later, I am craving some sort of savory food. Maybe the taste is too sweet for me. I've been mixing some SF Tang with either a natural whey or a creamy vanilla whey (which I am out of right now) for an orange creme taste. The Tang adds a nice acidity, so it's not overly sweet tasting. For chocolate, I've been buying the EAS from Costco. It's ok.

| I also use the EAS from Costco. Try this sometime. 2 scoops of it in a bowl with a scoop of ground flax-meal. Add some hot water. Instant chocolate cereal. Great for cold days. It will stick to your ribs. For fun, heat in a M/W and it becomes a cake too.

| How about this. This shake is designed to get you going (with coffee, but you can use decaf) and keep you going through the morning (with the medium-chain fatty acids in the coconut milk). The flax seed meal adds fiber and lots of other good things, but you could also add fiber in the form of "Benefiber" or some similar preparation. If you're not a fan of coffee, try this similar berry shake Ingredients:
Blend it all up together. You can do it in a shaker cup if you don't care about it being thicker or don't want to wash the blender. Nutritional Information: Each serving has 5.5 grams effective carbs plus 5 grams fiber, 23 grams protein, and 403 calories. |
