some good suggestions here... I can't do without the countdown milk, or the carb options products, especially the bbq sauce. The walmart here in Ohio doesn't carry dreamfields pasta.

LOL Lou, Carb Countdown Chocolate Milk and Carb Options BBQ Sauce are some of my absolute FAVE items!!!! In fact, I have run out of the BBQ sauce and have to get some more. It's REALLY good on chicken on the grill. It gets kinda gooey, just like regular BBQ sauce. (Bring on the Napkins!!!!!)

Lou if it is not a super walmart they wont carrie it... you have to look in a few diffrent places some keep it w/ the other LC stuff some keep it in the regualr pasta isle.. some keep it in the health and beauty section w/ other stuff... just have to look.. and if you call them ahead of time they will order it in.. its pretty much a requirement of Walmart.. For them to order something when someone requests it..

Hey Hockey Girl-- before you stock up in the US-- check out Sports Nutrition Depot. They have one in Brampton and a new one on Yonge Street in T.O . They also have a website: www.sndcanada.com
I have been to the store many times and I have ordered things from there (they don't always have everything in the store.) Take a look there before you go South, just to save on lugging stuff over and the exchange rate. PB

Hockeygirl...i live in Montreal and we do have a lot of LC stuff now comparing from a year ago....Look into GNC, and your natural product centers...to be honest with you, i try to stick do my own do it yourself fresh meals...LC products are good only if your stuck and on the go....Im not to keen on LC products...taste too artifical and sweet to me...(thats my opinion) you will save on the exchange....im sure in Toronto you have a lot of LC products and you dont need to cross just for that...last week there was a 2hrs waiting in line just to cross the border....hope you have patience and A/C in your car...lol...

If you're coming to the US ANYWAY, searching for some of this stuff might be kinda fun, but if you can avoid making a special trip, that's the way to go. Do you guys have to pay some kind of tax or something on this stuff? (Having never crossed borders anywhere to buy products from another country, I'm kinda uneducated on this kind of thing.) Yikes, it's pricey enough anyway as it is!!!! But have fun on your adventure!!!!

Hi all!

Thanks all so much for your input! VERY VERY helpful!

PeanutButterGirl - I know about the SNC and will go there soon to try to locate some more stuff! Right now I frequent the Low Carb Grocery at Yonge and Lawrence! It is great!

Lanny#2 - GNC is soooooo expensive, even moreso than other places I have found. Hehe...thanks for the warning about the 2 hour wait to get across the border. Yikes.

heykim - Frank's Hot Sauce absolutely is my FAVE! WOohoo!

I went to the Low Carb Grocery yesterday and bought a few more items and looked for new ones. THey now have the ATkins Shakes (pre-made), and Dreamfield's pasta. FINALLY! I asked when they were getting the HOOD milk's in and the manager told me that Canada won't ship them in because they have vitamin K in them. *sigh*

ANyhow, I think I still would like to go to the US at some point to look for new foods. Also, I want to go to Bath & Body Works (MY FAVORITE STORE EVER!). HEhe.

Take care!
Krystyne

My vote is practically the same as Barb Keith's list! With the addition of xylitol... and maybe Trader Joe's Flax Seed Tortilla Chips.

I laughed when I read Barb's list, because it was just about what I was going to write, LOL! (is Hood the same as Carb Countdown?)
Quote:
My vote goes for:
Carb Countdown Milk (Chocolate is wonderful)
La Tortilla Factory LC tortillas
Almond flour and flaxmeal
ThickNthin/Not Starch or Xanthan Gum
And ANY s/f Davinci and Torani syrups
(aside: I decided to stick with the Thicken/Thin products, as I can never make xantham gum work. In fact, I just pitched a couple of very expensive-hard-to-find bags of xanthan gum and guar gum when I was cleaning out the frig this week).

What the heck does Canada have against Vitamin K???????? What's up with that?

Yes, Hood is the manufacturer of CarbCoundown Milks. Krystyne, If you end up getting the milk, make sure you bring a cooler with you to keep it in, just in case you end up sitting at the border for awhile. I will bring a cooler with me when I'm doing a lot of running around and it's really hot out. It saves those perishables from getting too warm. Takes a little planning ahead, but it's worth it to keep your cold stuff cold.

Heya Barb!

I KNOW!!!! I have no idea why we can't ship in vitamin K containing products. I mean green leafy veggies, veggie oils, cereals, and meat all contain Vit K and we still have that!... Ugh. I dunno how to answer that one, but it really burns me up.

Hehe...thanks for the suggestion about bringing a cooler. I will do that for sure. I can't wait to bring home some of the goodies I find and try them out!

Yippeeee!!

CHeers,
Krystyne
