| I agree, Maggie. When I checked out my local Borders after the book was published, I expected a display, or at least a placement in the New Non-Fiction case at the front of the store. Instead I found it in the "Special Diet" section. That is SO disappointing. I also was thinking, too, that the title is really not suggestive of the depth and importance of Taubes book. Especially considering what a grabber his article "What If It's All Been A Big Fat Lie" was. Of course, I know authors don't always have a choice in how books are promoted, titled, jacketed, etc. But come on, this is important. Congrats to those who've finished. I'm still in the midst of carb-land.

| Anyone finished yet? I finished my book club book last night, so now I can get back to Taubes' book again! (BTW, Still Summer by Jacquelyn Mitchard was excellent, but bring a box of tissues for the last 100 pages!)

| Let's see, I'm on chapter 15. Chapter 13 (Dementia, Cancer, and Aging) was IMO worth the price of the whole book. Maybe because I'm an old broad who worries about all of those

| I finished last week and I'm about to go through it again. This book is so DENSE with information that I'm going to have to treat it like a school book. This time with highlights, underlines and notes in the margins. This is absolutely the most comprehensive analysis of all aspects of the diet/health question that has ever been written. The bibliography alone is worth the price of the book.

| Did any of you see Michael Eades (Protein Power) blog comparing Ancel Keyes, (Gary Taubes wrote a lot about him) at 100 compared to Jack LaLanne at 93? Pictures say a thousand words! http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/

| I don't miss a day without checking Dr. Mike's blog. gary taubes is slowly getting the publicity he deserves. I keep seeing interviews in small venues. Larry King show would have been more of a coup if Larry King had hosted. I noticed that out of 9 library branches in my city there is only one copy of Good Calories Bad calories. There are 47 copies of John Sandford's latest book. sheez. I put it on hold to see how many people are waiting and I was only number 5. I hope that's because people are buying the book. |
