Question...
Has anyone tried any of the Walden Farms products? I like the Thousand Island dressing and the pancake syrup. I think I have the apple butter at home. I'm wondering about the marinara sauce, the peanut butter and some of the other salad dressings. Any info welcome and appreciated.

Thanks!

Heather, I tried one of their products shortly after I first started this WOE. It has been long enough ago that I have forgotten what the product was. However, my recollection is that I was disappointed in the flavor and was not going to waste my money on that product any more. That experience of course colored my perception of the brand. That being said, my observation on l/c products, particularly those like sauces, dressings, and syrups is that individual tastes differ and what one person dislikes, another really likes. For example, KC Masterpiece made a l/c version of their bbq sauce. I tried it and found to me it was a tasteless mess. However, I have seen several posts from people who love it. All I can suggest to you is to try a product and evaluate it for yourself before you buy a lot of it. If you like it, then use it.

Heather, a few years ago someone gave me a bottle of their alfredo sauce, it was terrible. I wasn't expecting it to be good, though. Some folks like their ketchup, I buy the Heinz lower sugar version. I can't speak for their sweet sauces, jams, etc. It's my understanding that most of those contain sugar alcohols and I canNOT tolerate SAs in any form. Having said all of that, I think Walden's is definitely one of those YMMV things.

Some of their stuff is not great, like the alfredo sauce (it's sweet!), but I do like their chocolate, strawberry and blueberry syrup, great in a protein shake. And some of the salad dressings. We love the Asian, the Balsamic, and the French. I like the Raspberry dressing on a spinach salad. The Ranch is a little too sweet, prefer to make my own with Hidden Valley mix. The caramel sauce is ok, as is the marshmallow, but I didn't like the apple butter, it was way too thin and runny. The apricot preserves are good, too, they make a nice topping for ham.

I use the chocolate syrup in a cup of Calorie Countdown milk, or Almond Breeze beverage, for a nice chocolate milk, better if heated for hot chocolate.

It really depends on your own tastes, and whether or not you'll like any of their products.

Thanks for the replies, guys! Being 7 hrs ahead of most of you makes it hard for me. I couldn't wait! I went ahead and ordered some things, and will see how it goes. One guy on the reviews page was mad because he thought the peanut butter was gross, and he bought TEN jars! Who buys 10 jars before they try something??

anyhoo...I'll letcha know!

I bought some of their italian dressing because italian is suddenly my favorite after many years of ranch but its higher carb than ranch.

WF italian dressing was the most vile thing I've tasted. I took it back to the store because it was almost 4.00 for the bottle. I bought a huge bottle of wishbone at Sams for almost that price and I do mean HUGE. I have either been adding mayo to "extend" it or adding my own oil to it to lessen the carbs a little. (by that I mean I use less italian dressing this way. It all seems to go to the bottom of the salad) I have no idea why suddenly after 32 years I like italian dressing now.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their chocolate syrup!!!! I buy 4 bottles at a time when I'm shopping at the store where I can find it. Their blueberry syrup is good on pancakes or in protein shakes. I tried their Scampi sauce awhile back and it was actually pretty good. I think I was disappointed with their ketchup and bbq sauce. BUT, they make a good base to which you can add your own stuff and alter it a bit to taste. Usually, if I buy something I don't like, I'll work with it a bit to see if I can salvage it.

I've tried their BBQ Sauce; eeeh. I will use it if I have no other BBQ sauce left or have used it in cooking or mixed with another BBQ sauce, but I sure didn't like it well enough to stock up. Sounds like it depends on the product and your tastes.

Here are Netrition links for the various WF products for anybody interested...

Walden Farms Salad Dressings
Walden Farms Pasta Sauce
Walden Farms Syrup
Walden Farms BBQ Sauce
Walden Farms Condiments
Walden Farms Creamy Peanut Spread

it's that funny? i find that happening sometimes to me, too. i will develop a taste for a new salad dressing. i did ranch for a long time, and then i did a stint with wanting italian. now i'm doing french, which is a little higher carb than the others, but i figure whatever leaves me wanting salads can't be all bad...

I have found since starting LC...........way back when........that my tastes have changed! I used to HATE bleu cheese dressing. Now I LOVE it! Weird,eh?

I just found my WF chocolate syrup at my Local Grocery Store. This LGS carries very little in the way of LC specialty products, so I am REALLY thrilled with that! They may be getting a clue now!

Now if they would carry Mission LC tortillas and DaVinci or Torani SF syrups I would be ALL set! As it is, I have to drive about 30 mins to a store that carries all that stuff and more! But I make the trip about 1X/month.

well...I agree about the bbq sauce, I'll be mixing that with something. The bleu cheese dressing is pretty sour, but just a little is good with a hamburger/lettuce/bacon/cheese mix.

Still to try, pnt butter, french dressing, and a couple other things. I already know I like the honey dijon dressing.
