Two Cents Bob's Red Mill

Don't know if this is the correct place to put this-but I just got off the website for Bob's Red Mill. I was looking for flaxseed meal and thought I'd go to the source.
What I liked was that you can buy cases and 25 pound bags of the flaxseed meal there.
A case of 4 16 oz flaxseed meal is $10.04
A case of 4 32 oz flaxseed meal is $14.36
25 pounds is $26.06

A case of 4 16 oz golden flaxseed meal is $14.72
A case of 4 32 oz golden flaxsed meal is $23.71
25 pounds is $41.90

The also had a "low carb" baking mix. 1/4 cup =total carbs 11
Fiber 5 A bit high at 6 net carbs 1/4 cup. It said no sugar but I did notice that the last 2 ingredients were a cane juice and crystalline fructose.

All products had nutritional info which was very easy to pull up.
Of course the prices don't include shipping and handling. (Boo-Hiss )

If you buy in bulk, make sure to store it in the fridge or freezer. I buy several bags at a time from Netrition, and keep what we haven't opened in the freezer, and what we use regularly in a canister in the fridge. Otherwise, it can go rancid, once it's exposed to air. We always have it on hand; I prefer the golden organic, just tastes better.

goddess-the mind boggles at the thought of how many OMM one could make with #25 of flaxmeal.
Nita-I bought a case of golden flaxmeal-4-32 oz bags. Thanks for the reminder about keeping it fresh.

They also had hazelnut meal there and some cereals they put under their low carb section. They were a little too high carb for me right now though.

laurie-i'm not nita, but it will last a while in the fridge, and longer in the freezer. if you just bought it recently, you don't have anything to be concerned about.

and i just smell mine to check it. i assume that works....

if you are eating a lot of flax, do make sure you get your water in, too. flax has a bunch of fiber, so it's important to have enough water when you're eating a lot of fiber...

Laurie,
I keep all my LC stuff in the freezer, even the big batch of Maggie's cereal I make up and keep on hand at all times. I put it in a large tupperware container, and even keep a 1/3 cup and 1/2 cup plastic measuring cup in the tub with it. That way, if I'm going to make a OMM, I use 1/3 cup, and if I'm going to have a bowl of hot cereal, I use a 1/2 cup.
I keep keep the flax meal, unprocessed wheat bran, almond meal, LC bake mix, coconut flour, all that in my BIG freezer in the garage. The cereal mix stays in the house freezer. Alot of the LC baking products have a high amount of natural oils, therefore needing to be in the freezer or fridge.

We keep a canister of flaxseed meal in the fridge, the rest of the bag gets sealed with the Food Saver, then popped into the freezer. The new bags go directly into the freezer until we are ready to use them. This works very well for us. If you don't have a way to seal the bags, use a chip clip, or put it into a zipper bag (you could put the original bag into the zipper bag, for easy reference to the nutritional info if you need it), and pop it into the freezer. Just make sure it's sealed nicely, so it doesn't absorb any funky odors if you have them.
