| If it's a 20 gm pack, and there are 20 mints, then it's about 1 gm per mint, and if they are 96 gms per 100 gms, then they would be .96 carbs per mint, right? (I never could do math in my head!) For the occasional breath freshener, I think this would be ok. I wouldn't make a habit of them, though. Anything with polyols can be problematic for some. YMMV type of thing. I buy sf hard candies, like Life Savers and Werthers, which are usually sorbitol or other sugar alcohols. These are rare, occasional treats for when I have a dry mouth, or bad breath, and no access to water. And, I keep them handy for my granddaughter, who always wants "a mint" when she sees me. If you are at induction, you might want to limit your mints to one occasionally. That's my opinion, anyway.

| in the ingredients, does it list which they use? you're looking for something like this - erythritol, isomalt, lactitol, maltitol, mannitol, sorbitol and xylitol. of these, erythitol is the one most people report causes no problem, and maltitol is the one most likely to give you gas and/or stomach cramps if ingested in significant portions. i for anything with sugar alochols (another name for polyols), it's something you have to monitor. some tend to give folks gastrointestial distress if they have "too much" (and too much varies by individiual), and for some, it can slow or stop weight loss. and some people can eat them in moderation without ill effects. so i'd say go slow with 'em; sometimes people only subtract half from the carb counts (instead of all the grams subtracted) because of the differening effects. i'd probably count them as a half-carb each and space them out.

| Besides the carb count, you need to be careful of the polyols. Depending on the type of sugar alcohol used, you may have gastrointestinal issues with frequent use. However, that is a YMMV thing.

| I used to eat the chocolate with polyols in and although it gave me wind to start with, I got used to it. It didn't stop me losing. The chocolate was maltitol. I will only use them when I am out and can't get to the mouthwash. Sweeteners in them are sorbitol, isomalt, aspertame and acesulfamo ( sorry it's in Spanish )
