Default Flax-Z-Snax hot cereal

This is my latest netrition acquisition. It's a hot cereal mix made from wheat bran, flax seed, and soy protein. I know some people avoid soy but I don't seem to have problems with it. It's not too different from the cereal recipe on this site, which I tried to make a number of times but always found too "sawdusty" (I probably did something wrong).

I really like the cereal. It comes in a number of different flavors, and I really like the blueberry. The flavor is really good and it's not as grainy as the cereal I try to make myself. It's like a slightly more fibery cream of wheat. I find it really filling and I don't get hungry mid morning. I have a really hard time with breakfasts so this was a great find for me.

I just got this from Netrition a couple of weeks ago but have not tried it yet. I know it's very popular amongst quite a few lc'ers. I got the vanilla almond flavor, I think. I also got another lc oatmeal - can't remember who makes it now - in sweet maple flavor. It's okay, a little grainy, and after I go thru the rest of it, I probably won't get it again.

What's your hard time with breakfast? Lazy cook, like me, or having something carry you through for awhile?

My problem with breakfast is really both those things.

I've tried shakes, but those leave me feeling hungry pretty quickly. I like eggs, but I get tired of those after a few days and I don't always have the time to cook them in the morning. I've also tried many variations of the one minute muffin, but I've never been able to get them to taste like I want them to. So, for awhile I've been eating Oh Yeah bars (also from netrition) but that gets old and they're really sweet too.

So, to update, I tried the wheat free chocolate cereal this morning, and I don't really like it at all. The consistency is really odd, really thick and almost like dough, and adding more water didn't make it more "cereal-like." Oh well, I guess I won't order that kind again.

I hear you on the breakfasts lasting .. or not. I'm really surprised the egg creams are holding me until lunch. Other than those, the only thing that holds me well is eggs and bacon or sausage. But, I get tired of that easily.

I finally have begun making some OMM's that I like. I came up with a chocolate one that is really good. Unfortunately, they don't last a long time for me. You'd think they would with the flax in it!

I need to experiment with the Mock Danish some more. Finally made one I liked and have wanted to try Maggie's suggestion of adding a little protein to it.

Too bad the chocolate cereal wasn't good. It's a downright shame when anything chocolate isn't good!
