Forum Changes and Upgrades- Progress update

Hello, Folks! Thanks for your patience while we upgrade the forums here at LCE. We're moving the site to a new server as well as upgrading all the software for the backend, so there's lots of changes underfoot. Many of the changes and features you won't be able to see until it's done, but rest assured, the LCE team is hard at work here behind the scenes to bring you all a brandy new, spiffy, feature-packed LCE.

On this phase of the upgrades, we're past the worst of it. While I hated having the forums offline for so long-I know you need your LCE fix!-it's for a good reason. I appreciate your hanging in there with me.

You'll notice some changes with all this upgrading going on. Here's what to expect:

• Hey! Everything is moved around. How observant of you to notice. Yes, I moved the forums around, but if you look, you'll find your favorite topics are still here. I tried to group them more logically and pay attention to how each forum is actually used. I also tried to include a little more info about each forum to guide new members in how they are used. And the site news goes up to the top of the list, because this is a place things are happening at the moment. Whoo hoo!
• The web address for the forums is different. We are currently at a temporary web address. For the time being, anyone who bookmarked the old web address should be automatically forwarded to the current location. The web address for the forums will change in the next couple of weeks, but your links and links from the LCE home page should continue to work properly.
• Where's the photo gallery? Well, I'm not finished moving it completely. I'll be working on it in and hope to have it returned to you shortly.
• Upgrading still going on. If you look, you may notice the version of the software mentioned at the bottom of the forum pages has been changing. We're at 3.58 currently, but will be moving to 3.67 PL1 version of vbulletin by the time we're through. Expect minor, random weirdness over the next few days. The forums may be taken offline for brief periods of time, but the biggest job (of moving the forum database) has been completed, so I'm not expecting another day and a half downtime. Thank goodness!
• The search isn't working right yet. I have to reindex the search, since the table that held the search info had over 7 Million entries! Dang. Lots of content here, man. Anywho, with that kind of database table, it was simply not feasible to move this. Expect search to be working properly within the next couple of days as well.
• Missing posts- While I made every effort to get everything moved, there will undoubtedly be a few posts and miscellaneous files that didn't make it over. If we're missing something important, let me know as soon as you notice (or PM me) and I'll see if I can't retreive it from the old database.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Again, I appreciate everyone's patience and support during this transition. I'm very excited about the plans I have for LCE, and I'm looking forward to bringing you lots of cool, new stuff in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
