Recent work on the site caused some weird (and annoying!) login bugs, along with difficulty seeing new posts and inconsistent marking of which posts have been read. I think I've tracked it all down, and things may already be working better for you.
However, if you're still having issues, here's what you can do:

Clearing your cookies and history: There were some changes in how the site uses "cookies," little tracking information your browser stores. This affects both login and how posts are marked read. Because of the changes, your cookie may be causing your problems.

Please note: Clearing cookies will impact sites that have "remember me" features and you will normally have to log in again when you return, even if you usually remain logged in.

For Internet Explorer (version 7 pictured) - Go to Tools, Internet Options at the top of your browser. Select "Delete Browsing History" from the open tab, and tell it to delete all. You MUST then close your browser and open a new one for the changes to take effect. (No reboot needed, though. ) Images attached below.

Checking your page refresh settings - In I.E., you can tell your browser how often to look for new content. (There are normally similar settings in other browsers, of course.) This seems to work best set to "automatically." This is located in IE 7 the same place you went to delete your cookies, but instead it's the "Settings" Option in the browser history area.

Forum read marking will work differently now than in the past, but you should actually find it's more accurate, as will be updates to subsribed threads. Marking the last new post in a forum should record the entire forum as read.

UPDATE - Some folks are still having some issue, although it is better than it was. I am hoping to correct remaining issues today, and will have the forums down briefly for that purpose.

I'll announce here when I'm done. You'll still have to clear your cookies (and better yet, all your browsing history), however, to benefit from the changes I've made.

Ok. I've done some work that should fix any remaining issues with login/logout weirdness, difficulty vieiwng new posts, and erratic read-marking issues on posts.

In order to get the full benefit of the work, though, there is a good chance you may still need to clear both cookies and, possibly, your browsing history as described above. Then close your browser and open a new browser. Even if you have already done this recently, I just did some updates and you probably have to do it again.

If things still seem off to you after clearing cookies and browser history, please report the specifics to me via pm. I need to know what you were trying to do, what exactly happened, and what browser you use.
