On Linking to Other LC Communities... A couple of times recently, the question has come up about how we view linking to other low carb communities, so I thought I'd share my thoughts about it. The short answer: We evaluate those links the same way we do any other links in a post, i.e. are they relevant to the discussion and of some use to other members? Or does it appear someone signed up just to promote another site (which I consider spamming)? The longer answer: I'll be honest with y'all. There are some LC communities out there that I really like, and some I really don't like. Every community is different, and every one has their own values, priorities, and personalities. I'm partial to communities like this one, where the members are friendly and supportive, the advice given is solid, and the orientation is toward a healthy, sustainable LC lifestyle.
I'm not concerned about the "competition"--I'm glad to see LC being promoted in lots of places! And I know people may join several communities in order to get the knowledge and support and ideas they are seeking. That's great, and I'm very glad there are a variety of resources available to help LCers now.
I just want our folks to be careful out there, and try to separate the good advice from the less balanced approach you sometimes see out there "in the wild," y'know? I care about the people that come here, and I want good things for them. Like everything else in life's journey, each person has to find their own way, and I totally respect that. But please do use discrimination in making decisions that will impact your own health and well-being. Not all advice is created equal, y'kno?
Peace out. |
