Once again we find our friends, neighbors, and LCE family members staring down the barrel of an ominous and massive storm.

We have family in Houston - Dan's nephew is in Pasadena, his sister in Trinity, somewhat north of Houston, both in the path of the storm, expecting major power outages. His sister is on oxygen. We called and left a message on their machine, but they are not home. I hope they found a safe spot - they live in a dbl wide mobile home right next to Lake Livingston.

We might get a few spits of rain, but it's supposed to steer east of us.

Thank you for your thoughts for those in the path, please think of Dan's family.

We have friends who have lost everything in the flooding. All we could do is watch it happen with them on the news.... So much Chaos in so little time.

agh. it has been so hard for many. thinking of everyone impacted...

we got tornados out here friday as a fallout from all the hurricanes and storms. normally weather doesn't bother me too much, but friday evening, the sirens were sounding for about an hour, my husband was on his way home from work, and a tornado hit down about half a mile from my house. plus i never know what direction he'll be coming home from for sure, because he often works at client sites, so i was quite concerned. at one point, there were two or three funnel clouds nearby. i was not a happy camper, let me tell you.

the one that hit right outside town very little damage though, and nobody was hurt, and my husband got home safely. so i know we were very lucky. not everyone got out of it as well.

We still haven't heard from Dan's family - I hope they went to a shelter. Can't get them by phone or cell phone. Going to try again later today. They were right in the path, they live about an hour north of Houston, and their son lives just south of Houston. If we don't hear from them soon, we might try calling the Red Cross and see if they can find them. We're getting worried - they are elderly and frail in health.

Thanks for all your thoughts, friends. We heard from Dan's brother-in-law this morning, they have been in 2 different shelters in Huntsville, and they are moving them to San Antonio, of all places. We told him we would go get them and bring them here. We still don't know why they didn't call us before the storm and see if we could get them. They expect their area to be without power for 2 weeks. Their son & family are fine, no power, but his wife's sister has power, so it appears they are bunking in with her.

We still might be dropping everything to go get Dan's sister & husband. I'd feel so much better having them here, under our roof, than in some shelter in a city they don't know.

We'll keep you posted.

i'm SO glad you heard from them and they are okay! they were probably hoping it wouldn't be that bad, so maybe that's why they didn't call before. regardless, i'm very relieved that you heard from them!

Me, too, Dixie. Dh called them, they arrived at the shelter in San Antonio (an old WalMart store), there are round-the-clock nurses, and dbil is having a ct scan scheduled, something he was supposed to have done 2 weeks ago after a fall. The dr suspects a minor stroke, and so do we, considering that dh had a lot of trouble understanding him this morning, said it sounded like he was talking some gibberish. They are ok, comfortable, and they know that we will go get them if they choose to come stay with us, which we are hoping they will do once dbil gets his scan done, and a diagnosis. I'd be much more at ease with them here. If they won't come, we might have to make a quick trip down there to see them, make sure they are really ok.

Again, thanks for all the good thoughts. It's much appreciated.
