Hey Dixie...I just noticed the new buttons at the end of each post under the signatures...what are they?

hey vicikie-you noticed, huh? can't sneak one past you!

those are for social networking sites...have you heard of "dig"? or the "dig effect?" that's one of 'em listed...

it's a way people share links to info they like and it is intended to help us get new visitors and help with search engine traffic. each one works a little differently, but basically, people who use any of the services linked click the icon, and add that post to dig (or whoever). others can see the link, comment on it, or visit it. search engines also like to give preference to sites that have links back from popular sites (like these are). so it helps get lce exposure several ways.

i haven't set down to write up an explaination yet about how to use it and i don't think most of our members are using these sites a lot currently (just guessing from what i know about our membership, although I don't really know). but it's a free, relatively easy way to help promote the site, so that's why i set it up.

i figured later, i'd go back and write up a more complete explanation to our members if any would like to try them. folks often ask about ways to help support LCE, and that's one.

you'll also notice the web addresses for the forum pages look a little different (and have post titles in the page links, for example). all the stuff from the last couple of days like that is to make the forums more friendly for search engines and help build site traffic.

the linkbacks and trackbacks and stuff is, basically different names for keepign track of who links to us and who we link to, which is good for search engines.

does that help a little?
