Had that happen with my second, horrible, 18 hours of labor, then this.

Congratulations! I'm so happy all is good with both of you. Can't wait to see some pics.

Take care of yourself and her.

Oh Summer, I am so happy for you! Little girls are so precious! Enjoy your time with her.

I get to go for my first Dr. Appt. here in a few days, but have already saw him a few days after I posted that I was preggers because I started having problems. I started spotting at my daughters spring program, so I went in and saw him and he sent me for an emergency ultrasound. Baby and I are fine, and we got to see the heartbeat, which was truly amazing. My dates were verified that day, and I got pictures of the embryo. I never dreamed that the heartbeat would be detected that early, but it was. So, now I am 2 months preggers, on restrictions, but that is ok. Just knowing that my baby is fine, I will take steps to make sure that the baby will be fine, heed my doctor's advice, and do my crochet while it is still nice. Once summer hits, I won't be able to do it, it will be too hot lol. But, I am being creative, got one baby blanket done and another almost finished .

Again, CONGRATS Summer and family....give that baby a hug and a kiss for us!

Smile Re: Pregnancy and Low Carb lifestyles

Well, I'm happy to report that I can now post here. Found out Sunday that I'm pregnant. So... now I need to figure out how to eat... and I need to mentally switch gears from "losing" mode to pregnancy mode. Don't want to gain too much weight this time... hopefully only 30 pounds (or less).

I'm already better off than last time. I was 175 when I got pregnant with DD and gained 40 pounds that pregnancy. Tried to "eat healthy", but ate too much junk. It's so easy to fall into the "but I'm pregant" mindset, even though we all know that junk isn't what's best for the growing baby. Anyway, this time I'm starting off 19 pounds lighter at 156. So, that's a good thing.

I've been following CALP, and am not sure how to change/adapt CALP for pregnancy. Anyone got any ideas? I will talk to my OB about it, but don't know how much support I'll get since I'm with Kaiser. Although, he had said it was okay to do CALP while TTC. Called their infoline yesterday for pregnancy nutrition and they recommend the food pyramid. Get this - here's their serving recommendation... 4 dairy, minimum 2 protien (can't believe it's that low!), 5 fruits/veggies, and 7 grains/breads (yikes!). I know that's probably not the best for me while pregnant.

I know most of you ladies were doing Atkins and just went up to maintenance levels, I guess. I suppose I could switch to Atkins maintenance, but don't really want to count carbs... that's part of why I chose CALP. Right now, I'm just trying to stick to CALP, but add fruit at one CM and yogurt w/AllBran at another CM and maybe for a snack. (Although now I need to find something different than AllBran because even though I thought I read the label carefully at the store, I just noticed this morning that it has aspartame in it which I'm now definitely trying to avoid). I guess one of my biggest concerns is getting enough calcium, since the prenatal vitamins only contain 15% of the RDA and they (Kaiser docs) want me to get the rest from my diet.

I think I did pretty well with my eating yesterday and got in a 35 min. brisk walk pushing DD in stroller. Went to bed hungry, but too tired to get up and get a snack. Woke up ravenously hungry this morning (which was weird because the past 2 days I haven't been that hungry in the morning).

Well... now that I've written a book, I would like to ask you to pray for me for a safe and healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

I know I'll enjoy posting here and keeping in touch with everyone.

BTW, where are you Niki? Are you still on your vacation?

Kimberly, how are things going for you? Haven't seen you post in awhile. Hope all is well.

And, Summer, when I showed my DD (2 yrs old) your baby's picture, she just said, "me hold baby". She loves babies, and yours is so adorable!
