Default Cramps

I am dying this morning--after basically missing August--I have it BAD this morning and I am all tied in knots too yet! I have drank a whole 22oz bottle of water, my shake and I need to find something else to eat, but nothing sounds good and my stomach is churning--I know I have to put something in it but this is not a fun morning! I used to cramp like this when I was a kid so I know things are back to normal again, but good grief--could this have not gone away??? YUCK!! Any suggestions on ways to stop/slow the cramping?

Only a heating pad, Advil and bed helps me. Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I've only had severe cramping a handful of times and it was downright miserable.

This is one time I head for the medicine cabinet! A couple of Pamprin, and some deep breathing and I'm semi-human again. (for about 4 hours!)

It's weird that I only get the horrible crampy thing every other time TOM visits. Doc says it's a variation in hormone levels due to aging. (I just turned 40 in March!) That's his answer to alot of things. And, the bad thing is, he's probably right!

I hope you feel better again soon!

Am finally coming out of my stupor--am still tired, but not fog headed and the cramps are more manageable tonight. . .I hate the first two days! I missed August for all intents and purposes, spotted but didn't have it hard enough to call it official. This one was exactly on time though!!!! And right on track, cramps, and the whole works--guess I know my body works still!

I think part of my issue with TOM is sugar! This summer I missed two after not missing since January. I wonder while I was not gaining weight if my body simply cannot process processed foods in a normal way such that it screws things up when it does. Iw as not eating high carb per se, but I was eating about 70 a day and once I dropped back to under 40 again I am back to "normal"! does this have anything tod o with PCOS. . .another one of those questions for the doctor!

All I know is that Insulin affects the rest of our hormones, so it stands to reason that when we eat more carbs than our bodies can handle, there's a distinct correlation. The amount of fat we eat really impacts our hormones directly, since our bodies make hormones from fats. We're such complex machines, it's a wonder we can function "normally" at all.

Thanks, I am going to keep track of the fat intake for a while and see if I can "adjust" the intensity of the cramps with diet--though it never really mattered, I have gotten them since I started when I was 10! I do feel good today so the worst is over for this month! I am going to ask my doctor as soon as I can get in to see him though. . .

Hi Huskers,

I feel for you. I'm currently going through major cramps. I mean they are getting so bad that I actually get sorta queasy. This is the 2nd month in a row for me. ACV is not helping me. I've been drinking ACV 3 times a day for about a two months and I get all the other benefits except for the TOM. I'm thinking about talking to my doctor about it. I agree with Renee, a heating pad is the ONLY thing that works. Ugggh, I've got at least two more days of this torture. :crying:

I hope you are feeling better.

Kelli,

Please check the test in my adrenal fatigue thread in this section. It can be a symptom of adrenal fatigue, besides low hormone levels...

Looks like I'm gonna have one of those "phantom" visits from TOM this month, just kinda spotting, hardly any cramps, but on time. Lasts the same length as a normal period, but is barely there. Been doing that since April, every other month. Then the next month I have a doozy. It's been a regular pattern too. I think my body is getting ready for the BIG M. I've taken the menopause tests and they still are negative, so I'll call this "perimenopause."

Kelli,

I just thought of something that has helped me before my symptoms became so intense...

B6! I used to be able to take it just at tom, then I started taking it daily. It really has helped me in the past. I still take it, I've just got other "issues" going on....

Something else that I'm doing this cycle around that seems to be making a significant difference in my level of functioning is drinking Stash Wild Raspberry tea. Raspberry leaves help with female stuff.

Be careful though, most "raspberry" teas are only flavored. You need something with the leaves in it. Another bonus of this particular tea is that it has licorice in it (mildly sweet) and licorice is good for the adrenals

Raspberry is GREAT for female organs. It's main function is to TONE the uterine walls. It's also great for pregnant women to help tone the uterus so they have a better delivery.
