| I really need some advice. I'm experiencing much more severe, and long-lasting PMS as I get older (37). Sometimes it lasts two weeks. Is this common? Is there anything (food or supplement-wise) that will make this better? If anyone's read my journal, you can see I'm like Jekyl and Hyde over the course of a month. My dear family deserves better!

| Oh, Staci, I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner! I sure can relate, though! We've been discussing similar sorts of things in the Cramps thread. I can tell you some things that have helped me before my problem became severe a few months ago (adrenal exhaustion): B-6 taken daily Apple Cider Vinegar Raspberry leaf tea (Stash "wild raspberry tea") Those are the simple things. Beyond that, I'm taking myself to my ND as soon as I have some cash to do so. I hope one of those will help! Oh, and there is a product called "PMS tea" that I've used, but not a lot, so I'm not super up on it. (((hugs))) You might also want to check out this link: http://www.womentowomen.com/LIBadren...ywords=adrenal |

| My husband swears by the low dosage of DHEA (25 mg) I have been taking for the last decade to keep PMS at bay - I have had very little, other than annoyance with sore breasts from the water retention. Now that I'm perimenopausal with my monthly period totally acting abnormally (23 day cycle), I'm experiencing 2-3 day migraines from hell. I spend the time doped up on pain killers that make one feel a bit depressed. :( Anyway, doctor suggested a mild diuretic which he prescribed to be taken 10 days a month. Newsflash - so far this month - it did not work! I did skip DHEA one day, so that may have something to do with my migraine today. It's important when one gets a headache to quickly take a pain killer (I take pure codeine) and not let it get a foothold.

| Staci, I think for me at least, it's an every-other-month thing now. Just eating lowcarb has helped with this, in my opinion. Also, I began taking a B-Complex a few months ago. I just started on the ACV, so maybe that will help me further. I still have a "hunt for chocolate" urge, but it's ALOT milder than it used to be. BTW, I'm 40 and not on any drug type BC. I hope you will scope out those links. As someone who has suffered with severe PMS in the past, I can relate. It was like I was in a movie, watching myself turn into this hateful, wicked creature and I had no control over it. Sometimes it's worse than others, especially if life's circumstances are bad at the time. Take care.....I hope you find some info to help you with this.

| Staci: YES! My PMS got so bad starting at about age 38. Horrible moodswings and depression. I had never had that problem before. I had been a bit moody, but I can remember driving around in my car in 1998 thinking "the world would be better off wihtout me. "Seriously. The next day I would be fine, and for the next month too. Then it would happen again. My doc put me on lowdose birth control pills and I felt SO much better. Mood swings still come but they are not severe. The first type of pill they tried gave me headaches because there were no hormones at all for a week, so she changed me to one that had 2 days of nothing, then a trace for the rest of the week and they work like a charm. I have learned that this is a very common sympotom of perimenopause, so dont feel alone. It will be interesting to see what else these lovely hormonal changes will bring! Good luck!

| Hi Stace My Dr. put me on Ribes nigrum oil (gama-linolenic acid, linolenic acid, and oleic acid) and Vit E. I take once a day. I feel less moody switches but my water retention is still a problem. Some months are better than other. Anyway... I hate PMS!!!! :( (and DH too!)
