Default Baby Name Poll

Hello all. This baby is coming any day now and we are very undecided on names. Care to help out by telling me your favorites from the list below? My firstborn is Michael so I obviously go with names I like regardless of popularity. The middle name will likely be after my husband, James Everett, or Thomas, because I like it. Our last name is Arnold.

Thanks in advance!!

1) Andrew James
2) David James
3) Luke _________? (Jameson, Everett, ??)
4) Matthew James
5) Nicholas James
6) Patrick Thomas
7) Thomas James
8) Timothy James
9) None of the above!

Even though you like the name Thomas, I'd hesitate to go with that one because it's a name linked to a semi-famous person with a not-so-good reputation. Then again, maybe by the time he's in school people will forget all about Roseanne Barr's ex-hubby, Tom Arnold.

I think David James Arnold has a very distinguished ring to it. Andrew James is a close second. You can call him Andy or A.J. And his initials will be A.A., which is kind of cool.

Melissa - I like those too! I also think that Timothy James Arnold sounds good and you could call him TJ. The other choice I like is Luke Jameson or you could have Lucas James Arnold. I love figuring out baby names. We have tons of ladies at work that are pregnant and most know the sex of the baby. We are always going through names. Let us know what you pick!

I like Nicholas James - I have always loved the name Nicholas - if I'd had a third boy I would have named him Nicholas Blazer (I have a Hayden Russell and a Luke Walker)

Emily, have you thought of looking up the meaning of each name? I did that with my two boys and found that it mattered what the names represented. I wish you luck and a swift decison. Best wishes for a good delivery and healthy baby boy.

Emily Anne,

My Grandmother once told me--"never name your child something you can't scream in its entirity out the back door for the entire neighborhood to hear and watch what the initials might spell or be an acronym for...that being said I like Lucas James...you could still call him Luke. My next favorite is Timothy James. I would avoid Thomas with the last name of Arnold based on Rosanne Barr's ex hubby and his name being Tom Arnold...not a good reference point and someone would inevitably come up with that analogy. I hope everything goes smoothly and you have a healthy baby boy very soon!

Thanks for all the input - good point on the Thomas thing. You'll never believe the name DH tossed out last night. Jeremiah! All I could think of was that song "Jeremiah was a bullfrog, my sister was a toad..." LOL I won't sign the birth certificate if he insists on Jeremiah.

Here's a preggo pic taken last week. I'm so puffy I could barely get my ring on. Haven't worn it since. Can't wait to get back to some serious low-carbing, although I've been doing well on Atkins maintenance. Gained 30 pounds so far with less than a week to go....

You look fabulous!!

Isn't it funny about the things we get in our head? When I think of Jeremiah, the first person that comes to mind is Robert Redford because he was in that movie, Jeremiah Johnson.

Actually, there are no names on your list that I don't like. If I were an old Catholic grandmother, which I'm not, I'd say they were "Good Catholic names." Most of them do have a bit of a Biblical ring to them. I've often wondered how many people had a quiver of boys and named them, in order, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. :-)

what a really really great photo! maintanence suits you well!

got to agree with the care taken on the initials... my sons are SOOOOOOOOO not right... although we named him after my dad... his fathers father... and of course his dads last name.... it STILL came out bad.. BAD! didnt really think about it till we took him out with the sweatshirts i had monogramed myself to match... his fathers initials ...okay... HIS initials ...not OKAY in the least...
but i STILL didnt notice it till we went to gary indiana and got looks that could kill... and to be honest... i cant blame them!

Update -
Thanks everyone. Just got back from my 39 week appt and am in labor - I'm actually leaving for the hospital right now - gonna have a baby today!!!

My official pregnancy weight gain is 27 pounds (lost weight the last 2 weeks). Shouldn't be too hard to lose that.

Wish me luck...

While Emily Anne is off having that baby, I just have to ask CINWIN...

You mentioned six boys, but stopped after Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. What comes after that? Did they name the next ones Acts and Romans?
