Default Birth control options

Has anyone ever used the copper IUD? I have my appointment today to ensure no little Michelles or Chucks are produced in May, and I am considering the IUD. Any opinions on this?

What about the patch? Will it stay on even though I swim in chlorinated water almost every day?

How about the Nuvaring? Anyone try this one? Does it slip out?

Thanks for the input.

***Update: I went with the Nuva Ring***

Hey Rosie,

Haven't posted in your journal much but just read it -- you're doing awesome!! Congrats!!

I've been using the Nuvaring for over 2 years. It's awesome - doesn't slip out - and is totally the best bc I've ever used. It's so effortless - leave it in for 3 weeks and take out. I nor anyone I know (all my friend's use it) has ever had ANY problems with it. It's the best!

My vote is for the Nuvaring. It is the best BC I ever tried.

i have been reading about birthcontroles beacuse i can't take anything hormonal due to clotting disorder i wish i could do the nuva ring.

my only problem is my husbands insurance wont cover any form of birth controle wich boggles my mind. and the iud is pretty expencive. (realy wishing i would have got my tubes tied when had last one)

diaphram - not costly, easy to use, no hormones to take,
I used it for years, never had any problems, never got preg...
have to check it for holes every now and then, but they do work if you use them and that is the key (you have to use them)

Thumbs down Re: Birth control options

MY OPINION OF THE RING IS QUITE DIFFERENT:

I tried the ring and ummm,,,it popped out,,,yepper. It was embarrassing when my boyfriend handed it to me like.......helllo??? **********I can PM you on this if you like, I would have to be more graphic to explain more I can then explain why my opinion is different.

And inserting it is tough, tough because making it comfortable isn't easy, I was also nausiated by it too. stopped that after 6 months.

the patch, I was told by the gyn that you have to weigh under 140 and well...that isn't the case, I am killing myself to get to the 199 marker. 140 would be too skinny for me and from seeing Nicole Richie.....lately....skinny is gross!

I stopped BC altogether, we are very careful with everything and have been fine! Again I can't be graphic again here other then saying " no deposits are ever made to the bank!!!" LOL

I use the Mirena IUD, best thing I ever did. I dont get a period at all. I do cycle but no actual week of aunt flow.

Check out this info...http://www.mirena-us.com/index.html

I figure i need about 3 or 4 more then I should be clear of the pregnancy risk...

PQ even with deposits not being in the bank that is pretty risky. Have you considered taking your basal body temp and keeping track of when you are fertile just to be sure?
