| But the question is, is this sudden hormonal onslaught the reason why I can not seem to shake an ounce off me? And moreover, am gaining weight? Have been on a pretty strict induction (one week) since the holiday slackoff and subsequent 5 pound gain. But have not lost anything, and as I said, am continuing to gain. Ihave missed my period though... What is going on??? Help ladies!!! Thanks |

| But the question is, is this sudden hormonal onslaught the reason why I can not seem to shake an ounce off me? And moreover, am gaining weight? Yes, definitely! Our hormones affect our metabolism much more drastically, once we start the stages of menopause. We have to increase the physical activity and watch what we eat so much closer than when we were younger! My symptoms were reduced (not completely gone, by any means) a lot when I lost weight on Atkins last year. I had more energy and slept better and my mood swings were eliminated! But as soon as I slacked off the walking, I stopped losing weight. | I had night sweats and hot flashes. They seem to have stopped. The only thing I did different was to try some VCO (virgin coconut oil), sea salt, and ACV (apple cider vinegar). I am not really using the VCO or the sea salt right now. I am using some of the ACV. There is some information in the "Everything Else Forun" on the Watercure (about the sea salt), the apple cider vinegar, and the coconut oil. I don't know if this will help, but it's worth a try. | I am having the most terrible time with hot flushes and night sweats. Can't sleep cause I wake up so hot and wet from sweating. Throw off the sheets and freeze when I start to cool down. This does on all night. All day I go from one hot flush to the next. I was on hormone replacement for 3 years but quit a month ago. I started to take Estovan 10 days ago hoping this will help. Any more ideas out there hot to stop this craziness? Donna 238.5/171.5/150 |

| Ilse, I read that ACV helps reduce hot flashes, and when I can remember to take mine (I take the pills)it does seem to work. I have not tried the VCO. Susan ( AKA Northwest) 207/170/160/ size 16/12/8 LC since 4/03 |

| Thanks for your responses. I have to educate myself on what the heck is going on here. I haven't stopped induction and I am exersizing, drinking lots of water...but nada. I have however, found an excellent natural supplement which has stopped the night sweats and hot flashes: remifemin It's made of black cohosh and in 4 weeks has virtually eliminated my symtoms. Now if only my body would start LETTING GO of the weight! I've been SUCH a good girl... Oh the joys of cronehood... Flipleis |

| Hi Flipeis, I have no advice about menopause yet. I am at the precipice, but according to the M-test I took, I haven't even begun yet. I was sure I was starting, 'cuz my TOM was late this month. But it came with a vengence. ACV has been helping with my cramps tho. So give that a try, it should be organic from a health food store. I put 2 tsps in a 16 oz bottle of water. I do that all day long with all my water. I want to send you a private topic. Do you know how to access them? If not, here's how: Go to the top of the screen and click on "My Space" then go to Private Topics, there it will be waiting for you.
