I never used to weigh myself during my TOM before this WOE. I was wondering how much weight change people notice. The reason I ask is that I weighed myself today and I started my TOM today. I am up one pound from my last weigh in last week. I did a lot of cardio this week and watched calories and carbs, except for a minor binge yesterday (high calorie, but carb count was fine). I fully expected to be down this week. My real weigh in is on Sunday.

Good luck all!!

Me, too. Even if I am watching my carb count closely. I attribute this to "water weight gain" and it normally whooses away a few days later. I try not to get too bummed about it, watch my carbs and factor those 5 days in when I am setting loss goals. Just my two pennies!

It is frustrating though, because I am having my period 2 or more times a month now. Therefore it seems like I am always retaining!

Seesko, have you been to the gyn lately? Something might be up, hormonally.

I have been known to gain as much as 15 lbs during or right before TOM. Usually between 5 and 10.

Barb, I have an appointment at the end of April. It is very hard to get into see my gyno. I really do not know what is going on with my body, but is very frustrating. I was always on the pill before I got pregnant, and I really do not want to go back to it. I know that many doctors suggest that to regulate someone.

Good luck all!!

Hopefully your hormones will straighten out on their own, but I'm not a doctor, so I have no clue.

I am one of the ones that fluctuate between 5-10 lbs. during TOM. It gets to the point that I have to wear baggy pants, sweat pants, or my yoga pants. You can definatly see the bloat...it is over my uterus. Sometimes it just plain stinks being a woman!

I too can gain 5-7 lbs and it seems like it goes all right to my tummy. I feel so much thicker and I think everyone looks and thinks I've gained it back!!! I am VERY thankful for my "TOM pants" - you know, the ones that are baggy on you any other time of the month, and conceal perfectly! Also, sweatshirts and loose t shirts.
My best friend is planning her wedding and has not yet picked a date. I am her Matron of Honor My vanity hopes she picks date that does not coincide with my TOM!

I must be totally out of whack somewhere. Most months the scale doesnt move until my TOM then whoosh. This is the best week for me.

Before this woe my moods and energy were better the week of tom. I had my hormones checked and was told everything was okay. Now I feel good all month but still no real loss until that week.

My opinion is that in spite of all the hi tech advances in medicine there is so, so much science has not figured out. What is normal? During one of my pregs I felt so good I wanted them to check all my hormone levels so we could keep em there after the preg and the Doc wouldn't do it. Sometimes all docs seem to want to do is write a prescription or lump you in a group w/everyone else.

I had to vent at the end there.......
