Hi All, I have a new problem - New to me. My breasts have been extremely painful for the last 2-3 (mid cycle until now) weeks. This is rather unusual for me. I've also been 1-1.5 lbs each week for the last few weeks. I know it's probably water, but isn't low carbing supposed to lessen PMS symptoms? I was just bragging to my girlfriend that my PMS was gone :-(

Ummm... Lori? Is there ANY chance (even remotely!) that you could be PREGNANT??? Both of those symptoms -- but especially the breast tenderness -- sound highly suspicious. I don't even have to do a pregnancy test anymore; I know when I'm pregnant by the tenderness! Just a thought... Summer www.herstorygirl.com

That would be my first guess as well. If you're not then the tenderness going on this long is something that should be checked out with your doctor. LCE member since March 2002

My breasts get very sore every month about a week or so before my period. I was hoping this woe would help out since it releases stored estrogen, but it hasn't. If anything my breasts are more tender every month. If sore breasts are new to you, I would see your GYN. It may just be this woe, but you never know. Be sure to tell him/her that you are low carbing and ask about the effect of that on your hormones. Jen Atkins since 11/11/03 5'3" 140/128/115 I used to be indecisive...But now I'm not so sure!

I agree that those are signs of pregnancy. When I was preggo both of those symptoms were there in the begining. You may want to get a test. Please let us know what you find. Good luck all!! Seesko 242/232/135 "What my mind can envision; my body can master!"

Those are definitely both signs of pregnancy. Also, though the breast tenderness could be a symptom of fibrocystic disorder, which can be greatly relieved by eliminating or severely limiting caffeine intake. You might try this if you rule out pregnancy.

I've found that during ovulation I get breast tenderness. A few years ago I didn't, but now (i'm 25 now, no kids) I get that. Our bodies are constantly changing, could be just that. .....Or you could have a bun in the oven! hehehe Future Star Atkins since 2001

I have noticed with me that the tenderness went away after the first couple of months of lowcarb eating. Now it is back again. Blessings, Carol

Is breast tenderness caused by water weight? You'd think that after all these years of being a female I would know this answer.

| Lori, Actually, I don't think there is just *one* answer/explanation for breast tenderness... I'm sure that water weight gain CAN cause it, but I have also heard that hormonal changes can cause it. Since MANY women undergo hormonal changes as they lose weight, it makes sense that we will experience more of this while eating this way. HTH,
