Do you guys have room for one more pregnant low-carber?

DH and I found out Saturday morning via early prediction test (lol) that I was pregnant! Tomorrow starts the phone calls to my OBGYN to start the wonderful journey. I am so geeked!

Good luck to the rest of the LC mommies out there. Summer, enjoy that little girl when she makes her appearance. Little girls are so much fun!

WELCOME KIMBERLY!!!! and CONGRATULATIONS!

I'm still around... I'm less than 2 weeks away from my due date and I feel pretty good -- but very tired. And I think she has *dropped* a bit; it has gotten considerably harder to walk and I have to go to the bathroom EVEN MORE FREQUENTLY. -- if that's even possible! LOL!

Hope everyone else is doing fine.

Niki, sounds like you are making excellent progress with your eating. I wish you (and all here) a healthy, happy pregnancy and *easy* deliveries.
It's funny; I'm not nearly as impatient for labor to begin nor am I as anxious about labor/delivery as I have been with previous pregnancies... I guess -- despite all the diabetes/carb concerns -- I have really enjoyed this pregnancy and I'm just content.
I PROMISE I'll let you all know -- or have Andrea let you know... -- when I deliver.

Love,
Summer

How exciting, Summer! I'll be praying for you!
We just did our insemination LAST Saturday, so I've got another 9 days (who's counting) to wait to see if I follow in your footsteps! I hope so...you are an inspiration to me!

Smile Re: Pregnancy and Low Carb lifestyles

I'm here!!! (BRIEFLY)

I'm sorry I haven't been on to post... Raisha arrived on Saturday at 2:39 pm and she is BEAUTIFUL and HEALTHY!!!

As my time is VERY limited right now, I am going to "copy and paste" what I wrote to the moderators here for you to read (to fill you in) -- in hopes that it will help/encourage some of you!

Sorry, it's kinda long...

Raisha is just wonderful.
I don't know what else to say about her. I certainly don't deserve this; she is so calm and patient and peaceful. I have never had such an *easy* baby! I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. LOL! She is nursing so well and she is sleeping at night (like 3-4 hours at a time! ) and she is living in my arms (of course).

I just HAVE to tell you the delivery story as it is so unbelievable, I am still amazed...
Gotta make this fast as I can't stay on too long; it's almost time for bed.

Anyway, as you all know, my doctor was extremely worried about Raisha's weight -- no matter what the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic said, she was convinced that Raisha was going to be 9 pounds (because I am type II diabetic). Never mind that I have eaten SO carefully this entire pregnancy and watched my blood sugars, etc... Whatever.
So, she decided to induce me last Saturday (March 27th).

ANYWAY, I have spent this entire pregnancy studying the "Bradley Method" determined to have *natural childbirth*. With my first, I had to be induced, had horrible back labor and was given Stadol (horrid, horrid drug which DOES NOT kill pain, but only makes you drunk and irritable! ) and an epidural.

With my second, I had an epidural, but there was a kink in the line which caused the line to fall out and I had Natasha *naturally* -- feeling everything -- but my recovery was much faster (hence my decision to try to consciously go natural this time).

Sorry, I didn't mean to get so long-winded about this...
Well, I absolutely swore off ANY pain meds, but decided to "keep an open mind" about the epidural (with the vivid memory of the back labor in mind...).
I'm glad I did. Raisha's labor was *ok* for about 30 minutes, but then it moved COMPLETELY to my back (and indeed, she was born "sunny-side-up"). I labored this way -- using my Bradley techniques as best I could for an hour and a half... but the pain was horrible. Finally, I told Clay that I thought I might need the epidural. I really hated to do it, so I made a decision: If I had progressed to at least a *5*, I would just grin and bear it, if not (I had come in already at a *2*).
The nurse checked me and I was only at 2.5 -- after 2 hours of hard labor!!
That did it.
I got the epidural. (God bless anesthesiologists!!)
[b]Within ONE HOUR -- LITERALLY, ONE HOUR, Raisha was crowning! I had jumped from a 2 to pushing stage! The doctor came in and I pushed once (count to ten) and waited for her to tell me to push again, but she had this weird look on her face. I asked her if I should push again and she said, "Nooo... she's already out."
Raisha was born in ONE PUSH! That never happens!!!
And she was so pink!
I can still hardly believe it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She weighed 7 lbs. 11 ounces and she is 20.25" long.
I will try to scan and post a picture soon...
Oh. Raisha is beckoning!
Thanks to you all for your well-wishes and prayers! Good luck to those of you still waiting to deliver/conceive...

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Your truely inspire all!, reading all of your stories some tend to bring a tear to my eye... beacuse I would love to have another child... but DH and i both know that the two we have are plenty... and my body not cooperateing... (skipping up to 7months at a time-then getting hit outa the blue like running in to a brick wall) I wish just one day hubby would say... lets have another. I dont see it hapening beaccuse our youngest is more than a handfull. But that doesnt change my mind.. I love kids always wanted a HUGE family the old fashion kind ya know... more than just 2 kids.

but it takes 2 - to tango..... and can't make one on my own...

I am so happy for you April.... congrats on the easy labor and the success w/ the epi makes me so happy to hear you had such sucess... have fun w/ that little bundle of joy..

Thumbs up Re: Pregnancy and Low Carb lifestyles

Congratulations, Summer!!!!
What an amazing story. God bless you and your new daughter. I'll have to wait a little while longer to join you, as our IUI was unsuccessful. (Hopefully someday!)
Big blessings,
Lori
