    Default ?? about possible pregnancy

Could someone that's been pregnant before answer this question? I haven't had a period since the latter part of February. A couple of times these past few weeks, I've had slight very dark spotting. My question is, is it possible to be pregnant and spot in the early stages. I have had some slight cramping but nothing serious. If I don't get my period in the next few days, I will take a pregnany test. Any info would be helpful. Thanks Angel

Yes, it is possible. If you think you might be pregnant, back yourself out of ketosis by adding some more fruits and whole grains, since the jury is out on the question of it's impact, if any, on fetal development.

But, as Gilley has suggested, you should get tested now, so you know what your status is.

Definitely get a drugstore test. I always keep one on hand even though I've been on the pill for 6 years. Read the packages and pick the one you can use the earliest after your missed period. I hope you're taking folic acid!

EPT is a good one. Yes, some women do spot in the early phases of pregnancy, my mom and sister both had periods while preggers! The spotting is sometimes known as "implantation" when the blastocyle, or fertilized egg, implants into the uterine wall, and a small amount of bleeding or spotting occurs. I spotted with this pregnancy a week after I found out I was preggers, freaked out cuz I never spotted before and have had a miscarriage. I made an appointment, found out that the bleeding was coming from an abrasion on the cervix and not through the cervix. Went in, had an ultrasound, and got to see my embryo's heart beating. What a miracle!

But, if you have any questions, a good site is www.webmd.com.

Also, let us know if you are gonna be joining the pregnant low-carbers!

    Good luck!

Just took a pregnancy today and found out that I will be joining the low carb mothers to be. We are so excited because we have been trying for the past seven years to conceive. I am 35 years old, so my time was getting short. I know that we need to make an appointment with the doctor but what else should I be doing?

Congratulations!!! Read the Pregnancy and the Lowcarber sticky in the Women forum. about the 3rd one down is a link to an article you should read. You should definitely no longer be trying to stay in ketosis.

Again. Congratulations!! That is so Wonderful. Enjoy it!

I spotted the whole first 3 months with my dd and she was healthy and normal--miscarried my first one and my third onedd was in the middle!

I will be seeing my doctor soon. As for how I feel. I guess I can't complain. The morning sickness is all throughout the day, but only the (feeling) of vomiting. When I think of certain foods and smell certain things. The only thing that I found so far that make my tummy feel better is ice water, sour apples and pickles. I'm not in ketosis. I've started to eat oatmeal for breakfast and more fruit. I'm tired all of the time, my breast hurt even when I touch them and I go to the bathroom ALL of the time. but I won't complain. Thanks so much for all of the support and wonderful info that you guys bring to the table. Angel

Angel, I know how you feel. LOL, my breasts feel like they weigh a ton. I told DH that I was tempted to weigh them and he busted up laughing. I wasn't trying to be funny at all! I am still tired all the time, so I completely sympathize with you. Keep us updated about your doctor's visit. I just went for my first one Wednesday, and they took like 6 or 8 vials of blood (I lost count!) We were there for 45 minutes, but it is the first step in this wonderful journey.
