Being involved in the weight loss community for the last few years, I've had opportunity to see lots of New Year's resolutions from folks who want to drop extra pounds. Some resolutions help, and others clearly don't. Follow these tips to make uplifting, helpful resolutions that you can feel good about keeping.

People get weird sometimes going on about how they DESERVE to lose weight but it hasn’t happened. It almost seems like they’re completelhy hacked off sometimes.

As in: "Hey, I only ate 3 lettuce leaves and some chicken broth but I gained half a pound yesterday! Whyyyyyyy?"

Um…what do you say to that? How do people get THAT hyper, anyway?

Lose-By Goals: Helpful?

I know for some folks, having a "lose-by" date can be motivating and help keep them on track, focused.

But these dates can sometimes be a bigger obstacle than help. You may be asking the wrong questions here. Instead of asking, “How can I lose X pounds by this date?” Maybe the question should be, “How can I continue to make progress that I can maintain?"
