Five Days of Induction Menus...
Submitted by Lawbooks on Sat, 09/21/2002 - 05:00.
For those who keep asking for menu ideas during induction, here are some of mine:
Day 1
- B: 2 eggs hard fried in a 1 TBSP butter, with 1 oz. shredded cheese melted on top
- L: Cheeseburger w/o bun; mustard only; Small garden salad with full-fat ranch dressing
- Snack:Celery stalks with cream cheese
- Supper: Roast Beef with celery, onion, mushrooms, and steamed green beans.
Day 2
- B: Flax-O-Meal hot cereal with SteviaPlus, 2 TBSP butter, and a little heavy cream
- L: Chicken Caesar salad: I make my own -- I buy a rotisserie hen from the grocery store and tear off as much white meat as I can eat. Add Romaine lettuce, a few black olives, shredded, FRESH parmesan cheese, and "Newman's Own" Caesar salad dressing.
- Snack: Small handful of pecans and 2 mozzarella cheese sticks
- Supper: Big, juicy steak drizzled with lots of melted butter; salad
Day 3
- B: 1 sausage patty with 1 scrambled egg
- L: Turkey and cheese roll-up: Take a large lettuce leaf and roll up fresh, thin-sliced turkey, and your favorite cheese. A little mayo and/or mustard is good with this, too.
- Snack: 3 Deviled (stuffed)eggs
- Supper: Roast chicken or rotisserie hen with asparagus sauteed in butter (yum!)
Day 4
- B: Flax-O-Meal hot cereal with SteviaPlus (or Splenda), butter, and cream
- L: Cream-roast rolls: slices of roast beef wrapped around cream cheese; fresh broccoli dipped in full-fat ranch dressing
- Snack: 2 oz. kefir cheese with 1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil (on OWL, you can spread this on a Ryevita cracker)
- Supper: Taco salad -- no beans, chips, or rice. I eat mine: seasoned beef, lettuce, cheese, few tomatoes, onion, olives, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa.
Day 5
- B: Atkins' ready-to-drink shake
- L: Chicken salad on a bed of lettuce
- Snack: 1/2 avocado topped with sour cream
- Supper: Shish ka bob: Grilled beef, chicken, or shrimp with green and red peppers, onion, fresh mushrooms, and one cherry tomato.
