How many carbs should I be eating?
If you are asking that question, you have not yet chosen a plan. Each low carb nutritional program gives you information on the allowed number of carbs (or types and amounts of foods) for a given stage. At LCE, we urge you to look at the various low carb programs, choose one that makes sense to you, and then read the book. Visit the bookstore or library and read about the recommendations for (and reasoning behind) the various phases of the program you've chosen. Then, stop by the forum for support and to benefit from the experience of others.

Starting your Blog or Journal
Cheryl - You can start a journal here - (this is the link for the "new thread" button in the joural section), or start a blog here.
Here are some quick tips on using the site that includes the difference between journals and blogs at LCE, from the Site Guide (also linked at the bottom of every page). The help section isn't extensive yet, but I add to it a little at a time.
Hope that helps get you pointed in the right direction.

personal journal
Hi, thanks for all you great advice. I was wondering where to I go to start a journal that I can add to every day? I'm not that familiar with the site and really have no clue how to post a blog only how to reply to someone else's post. I'm just clicking everywhere and sometimes I get lucky. Again, thanks for any help in being successful on this site and the LC way of life.

sounds like progress.
Cheryl-It sounds like you've made some terrific progress! And that sounds exactly like how I used to eat pre LC. The more carbs, the better. I also inhaled Dr. Pepper like there was no tomorrow. So I hear you.
I think you've got a good start. I would still echo the advice of this FAQ, though. Having that foundation of a good understanding of LC by reading up on at least one plan will help you avoid and overcome any potential rough spots along the way.
I've been on this forum for close to five years now, and have seen many people make this journey. I can say without hesitation that the ones who take the time and energy to learn as much as they can about what they are doing have a better time of it and are more successful overall.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Hearing about your success thusfar really brightened a day that could use the sun.

how many carbs too eat
I have arranged my own low(to me) carb diet. I looked at all the carbs I was eating before~hashbrowns and bisquits for breakfast, burger and fries for lunch, and probably something breaded and deep fried with a couple of side of carbs all swilled down with Dr. Pepper!!! I was probably taking in 200-300 carbs a day or more. I decided to keep my carbs under 100 and have still lost like 22 pounds in a little over a month. Some days I have way less, depending on what I eat. I also just learned about net carbs, so probably haven't been eating close to 100. It is fun now finding things like spinach that has so much fiber it cancels out the carbs. Also, adding a little more exercise, I at least feel like I am in control of my body.
