Chair Dancing Around the World DVD Review
Once I started dropping the pounds using my new low carb food plan, I started getting the urge to exercise. I knew if I did that my weight would probably come off quicker plus it would tighten up the rest of my body. Not to mention the health benefits. So I started trying to walk along the dirt road in front of my home. I have had very severe knee problems in the last few years. Most of the time I have had to use a cane and when I would shop at my local Walmart Superstore I could not make it through the whole store. I have lost 32 pounds since December and found that I could walk farther than before. Afterwards though, I would be in pain and basically worn out. I had to find a way to exercise.......
Along comes a link to a site called chair dancing! This intrigued me as I could exercise right from my computer chair! Would it work? I read the testimonials on the chair dancing web site and it sounded too good to be true. I purchased the internet special which was not for the original dvd but for the one called Around The World Chair Dancing and the audio cassette tape of the same and included the Sit Down & Tone Up dvd for strength training.
Jodi Stolove is a dancer and aerobic instructor who broke her foot and had to find a way to keep in shape while she recovered. She had to teach her classes from her chair which resulted in her developing this awesome exercise program. It's great for all the people who cannot jump around and do aerobic exercises on their own legs and feet. Not to mention that when you are overweight who wants to go into a exercise studio with all those people who are already in top shape? Not me, I can tell you quite honestly!
The dvd gives you three different exercise levels to follow according to your own fitness level. As you achieve higher levels of energy and strength you can move up. You just follow the people on the dvd who are exercising at the level that is right for you. I started at the slow level and am still following that one until I feel ready to move up. Jodi will show you how to check your pulse in the beginning. What I really like is that everyone on the dvd counts their pulse at the same time. She shows you exactly how to do it together with the group. She goes through the warm up phase with stretches and after the work out portion she takes you through the cool down process.
Chair Dancing Around The World features various types of music. For example, some country, a Brazilian Samba, a polka, a Caribbean Calypso, a Viennese Waltz and a Argentinean Tango. It is fun to do it and you get your exercise in quite easily. I feel like I have exercised afterwards and it makes me feel good all day. I am getting more exercise in this way than trying to walk up and down the road with my bad knees. I would probably end up not doing any exercise because of that.
The other dvd, Sit Down & Tone Up promotes good strength training. Strength training will improve your posture, decreases body fat, improves your balance and mobility as well as stimulates bone growth. All important factors as we age. It includes the exercises for toning and shaping your arms, shoulders, back muscles, legs and abdominals. Then she has you do some gentle stretching that I found to be very soothing for my stiff body.
The only type of equipment you need for these two dvds would be a straight back chair without arms, a couple of paper plates and some type of hand held weights. I have not been using a weight as of yet, but will pick up some one and two pound ones soon. You can use a can of soup or something as long as it fits easily in your hand. I don't feel the amount of the weight is that important when you are just getting started.
Her products page has the aerobic dvds are $19.95 plus $3.95 shipping. The strength training Sit Down & Tone Up is $14.95. There is also a Chair Dancing Yoga dvd and that sells for $19.95. Once you get them and need a change she has several others with different music so you don't have to get bored with them. I am sure she will be adding more as they seem to be very popular.
This is the answer for all of us who use that excuse that we can't exercise due to our various health problems! On her testimonial page she has quite a few from health professionals who are using her dvds for their patients. Be sure to check them out as they are very inspirational.
The aerobic dvd is safe for everyone from 5 to 95. One thing that sold me on it was the no impact exercises which for me is very important. I feel it was worth the money for me to purchase it and hope if anyone else buys it they find it helpful too.

thanks for the review!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review this for us, Katlupe. I know we have folks who cannot participate in many types of exercise because of various issues like knee problems, so letting folks know about exercise options they can participate in SO important.
Peace out...
