Writers' Guidelines Site Meta Low Carb Eating provides support for healthy, sustainable low carb living. We advocate a moderate approach to weight management by encouraging LC newbies to review established low carb plans, select the one that seems best-suited to them and follow it! While we have folks on a variety of plans here (including self-styled plans), Atkins is by far the most popular among our membership, followed by Protein Power. We are always looking for new content of interest to our readers! Some topics are almost always welcome: Low Carb Success Stories - those including before & after photos preferred Low Carb Recipes - those including photos and nutritional information strongly preferred Low Carb Book & Product Reviews - Our review goal is "honest and fair" - contact us if you have a product of interest to low carbers that you'd like to get reviewed. (You can't review your own product for our site. Sorry!) We also publish articles on exercise, general fitness, nutrition, weight loss, scientific research, and individual low-carber perspectives. If you'd like to contribute an article, please contact us. Additionally, we do some group pieces that includes tips from multiple contributors. Multiple Contributor Articles Focus of these articles differ, but will be specified in the request. Tips for inclusion in multiple contributor articles: Please make the contribution specific to the article focus. If an article is about restarting an exercise program, for example, general exercise tips, while broadly related, are much less helpful and will get cut first over those more specific to the topic. Unique contributions are better than generic (albeit sound) advice. Many of our visitors are very experienced dieters and don't really need to be reminded to "have a healthy snack before going to a dinner party," for example. Unique contributions will stand out and generate more interest in your work as well. Avoid promotional copy. Group contribution articles are not free advertising. Bios and linkbacks are provided for contributors, but are kept seperate from the main copy. Products (such as books and DVDs) will only be linked if an affiliate link can be provided that helps support this site. Provide an Elevator Pitch Bio. One to three sentences and a link is what I'm looking for here. Please don't just send a full page or more and leave the editing to LCE, or your contribution will get pushed to the bottom of the pile. Full page bios are available for people who contribute a full-length article to LCE. Remember the audience. While not every contributor is a low-carber, the content published here is low carb oriented. Generally speaking, LCE readers are not worried about things like fat content (besides transfats) or egg yolks in recipes. Demographically, most of our readers are female, and many are over 50. (More information about our visitors can be found in the LCE Media Kit). Requests for contributions are NOT requests for personal advice, Espeically if you don't support the low carb lifestyle, please don't respond to a request with a lecture on "the dangers of low carb," explanation of " calories in versus calories out" or worse yet, a spammy link to some weight loss service or product! Frankly, these types of responses are incredibly annoying. For All Contributors Bios and links to personal or business websites can be included at the end of articles. For those who have a relevant book or product, it will be featured with your bio if you can provide an affiliate link that helps support our site. We also would like a picture of the author for the bio. Reprints of content currently availble online are seldom accepted, as they are far less helpful to us than original material. Book excerpts not currently available online are welcome. Please indicate clearly if you are providing a book excerpt, so we can promote your book if appropriate. We will not use contributions from those promoting "miracle weight loss cures" or link any content antagonistic to a low-carb lifestyle. While we respect the fact not everyone eats reduced carb and believe each individual is responsibile for determining their own path, we DO specifically promote low carb. Hence the name of the site. We are most interested in working with people who are supportive a low carb approach.
